Yorkshire (West Riding) / Banks and sons, music sellers, York
« on: Thursday 08 March 12 16:02 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me more about this company please?  I have Henry Banks b 1821 and his son Louis Henry Banks (1850-1934) and his son Cecil Golightly Banks (1880-1960) in my tree.  I have found a little on the internet but am intrigued to find out about the "Legendery Miss Banks".

Are there MI's for York Cemeteries any where on-line?

Thank you

Kincardineshire / Findlay - Benholm
« on: Tuesday 04 August 09 16:02 BST (UK)  »
I understand that deaths after 1860 will not be recorded in the Benholm Churchyard but if anyone is researching families in the Benholm area I am interested in finding out what happened to two of my grandfather's brothers.

George Findlay b. 1889 Fetteresso was a farmer at Upper Birnie, Benholm. He married Margaret Milne (1896-1979) but I cannot find a death or children for him. Family story is he died of 'Pipe Cancer'

James Findlay b 1883 Fetteresso d 1940 Threshing Mill Owner, Burn House, Benholm.  He married Mary Cameron Walker (1897-1982).

My ideal outcome would be to find someone who has photographs of these two great uncles. A bit much to hope but I have been doing well on this front lately - so why not try?

Kincardineshire / Cafe owning Robertsons
« on: Tuesday 26 May 09 13:17 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone who is researching Robertson from Fetteresso come across Robertsons who owned a cafe in the 1950's - perhaps on the Slug Road? I know there is a baker called Robertson in Stonehaven but I do not know much about them.  Can anyone help please?

Antrim / James McIntyre - b. abt 1828 Ballymena or Ballymoney
« on: Tuesday 05 May 09 00:32 BST (UK)  »
I have hit a brick wall in my research for the family of James McIntyre and would be very grateful for any help at all.

From the death certificate of James McIntyre I have the following :

James McIntyre b 1849 in Maybole Ayrshire, Scotland d. 1908 in Oakbank, Kirknewton and East Calder, Midlothian, Scotland.

Father : James McIntyre b. Antrim occupation coal miner
Mother : Ann Ferguson

From the 1851 census I have found a James McIntyre, lodger, living with a family called O'Neil from Antrim, if this is my James then perhaps he was not married to Ann Ferguson.

There is another family of McIntyre's moved from Ballymena or Ballymoney to Oakbank, Kirknewton and East Calder, Midlothian, Scotland.  I can find no link between this family and my James Mcintyre but feel there must be a connection.  This other family is William John McIntyre b abt 1828 Ballymena and Martha Stevenson b abt 1828 Ballymena or Ballymoney.

I would like to here from anyone researching 'McIntyre' from Antrim.

Thank you

Aberdeenshire / Look up request - parents of Isabella Middleton
« on: Monday 07 January 08 15:53 GMT (UK)  »
I have been trying, without success, to find the parents of Isabella Middleton born about 1815 in Aberdeen or possibly Kincardineshire.  She married George Rammage and in 1871 she is living at 8 Nelson Street, St Nicholas, Aberdeen.  I am trying to discover her relationship to David Findlay who is quoted as her nephew.

Thank you

Kincardineshire / Parish records
« on: Monday 07 January 08 12:48 GMT (UK)  »
Is there anywhere I can find information dating back to 1700.

I have traced my family tree back to William Findlay born 1706 Brucewells, Fetteresso, Kincardineshire.  His father's name was John Findlay born 1666 at Craigwells, Feterresso, Kincardieshire.  William had two brothers John born 1699 and George born 1702.  I would like to trace their descendents to try to link up all the Findlays of Fetteresso I am finding on the internet.

Thank you
