William PHILLIPS and Ann GOODMAN, both of Uxbridge, married on 3rd March 1789 at Hillingdon, Middlesex.  I am wondering whether they might be the parents of my ancestor William PHILLIPS born around 1797 in Uxbridge.  It's possible that William was baptised at St Margaret's around 1797.  I am still looking for William's marriage to a lady called Sophia (maiden name unknown) around 1820 possibly in the Uxbridge area.

William PHILLIPS is such a common name and any clues would be most welcome.  The IGI has a marriage of a William PHILLIP and Sophia WARREN on 31st December 1820 at St Marylebone, London but with no known family connections to this area I doubt whether this is the correct pair.

Antrim / Belfast Birth 1918

Hello all

I wonder if anyone is able to suggest why my grandmother in law's birth record does not show her mother's maiden name?  The father is listed as Alfred WAGSTAFF and mother as Lilie WAGSTAFF.  Lilie registered the birth herself but did not give a maiden name.  Details come from the IFHF online resources and the details are the same on the Ulster Historical Foundation database, which I understand come from the civil birth records.

Best wishes

Essex Lookup Requests / South Ockendon Marriage LLOYD and BRAZIER
« on: Friday 21 March 08 10:46 GMT (UK)  »
I have the banns at Swanscombe of William BRAZIER/BRASIER and Sarah LOYD (sic) in April 1788.  I wonder if anyone has access to the parish records of South Ockendon where the couple must have married?  William was of Swanscombe and Sarah of South Ockendon.

I am also interested in finding out whether any BRASIER?BRAZIERS were baptised in South Ockendon in the late 1780s/early 1790s

Kind regards

Kent / BRAZIER/BRASIER Swanscombe or Greenhithe
« on: Saturday 15 March 08 11:15 GMT (UK)  »
Looking to make contact with anyone looking for the surname BRAZIER or BRASIER in this area of Kent.  My ancestor Harriet BRAZIER married George DURLING in Swanscombe.  She was born in the 1790s in Swanscombe.  Sadly the parish records are water-damaged so I cannot find her baptism.  A Richard and Sarah BRAZIER are baptising children in the timeframe and a William and Sarah.  Richard and William might well turn out to be brothers but I would like to confirm which is my Harriet's father.  I wonder if there are any others with BRAZIER connections out there?

Ireland / Marriage licences in Ireland

Does anyone know whether it is possible to view or obtain marriage licences for Ireland?  I am interested in marriages in Tipperary in the 1860s.

Tipperary / Tipperary records and HOULAHAN (COMPLETED)
« on: Saturday 08 March 08 16:11 GMT (UK)  »
I have been seeking the marriage of my ancestors Mary HOULAHAN (HOULIHAN) and William PARTRIDGE for some time.  The IGI has two children born to them:
WILLIAM PARTRIDGE - 27 AUG 1867 0832, Newry, Armagh, Ireland
and
MARY ANNE PARTRIDGE 10 NOV 1868 , Cork, Ireland
Both of these children died and my grandmother Elizabeth Catherine born 1870 was the first child to reach adulthood.

So far I haven't found a marriage in Armagh or Cork for for William and Mary.

William PARTRIDGE was in the 39th Foot (Dorset Regiment) and presumably met Mary HOULAHAN when on military service in Ireland as he was a Herefordshire boy.  I haven't been able to establish whether the 39th Foot were in Tipperary in the 1860s but I did find a marriage for a Mary HOULAHAN in 1864 in Tipperary.  There is also a marriage for a William PARTRIDGE in the same year.  As far as I know the record can't been viewed other than by me spending my 10 Euros.  Do I take the risk?  My Mary HOULAHAN was born around 1844 so would have been around 20 at the time of this marriage.  In 1871, 1881 and 1891 Mary is in Kent, but her place of birth only says Ireland.

Dublin / DALY, Monkstown, Dublin
« on: Monday 03 March 08 16:54 GMT (UK)  »
Mary Jane DALY married Joseph SCURLOCK on 6th September 1864 in Monkstown, Dublin.  Her father was Patrick DALY, a seaman.  Mary was born around 1844.  I haven't yet confirmed Mary's birth but I know she was born in Ireland, whereas husband Joseph was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales.  I'm looking for a Patrick DALY who might have been her father in the Dublin area sometime between 1840 and 1870.  Of course because Patrick was a sailor he might have come from anywhere.  One rumour in the family is that these DALYs originally had connections with Carrickfergus in the North.  So far I have drawn a blank on Mary Jane and her father.

Antrim / Elizabeth Ann WALKER, Shankill district
« on: Sunday 02 March 08 15:09 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for a WALKER family in Belfast.  The daughter, Elizabeth Ann, married Stephen DAVIDSON in 1907.  On the marriage cert Elizabeth says she was at 52 Elm Street and a street directory prior to 1907 shows an Eliza at no 52, whom I take to be her.  I have absolutely nothing on her family at all, but her father was a John WALKER, sailor.  Eliza must have been born around 1880-1890.  The bride's witness was a Maria MORRISON, but I have no idea who she was.  Would love to make contact with anyone connected to WALKERs in Belfast.
