Kent / Burt family from Bexley Kent
« on: Thursday 15 February 18 22:48 GMT (UK)  »
In my family tree I have come across a branch where there were four children all born in Bexley, Kent. The eldest child died in 1975 in her late 70's. But the three younger siblings all died in Gravesend in March 1982 aged between 78-83. I thought it was odd they all died in the same month of the same year. They may have died in an accident or all become ill at the same time. I have looked into it a bit but not found any explanation online. I wondered what others peoples thoughts were on this.

Hi I wonder if anyone can help. I have never had any trouble with the programme before. But I can't type in dates, I can type in names but nothing in dates. I have tried shutting down FTM and starting again and I have tried rebooting PC.

Any advice will be gratefully received. :)

Sussex / Hankham History
« on: Saturday 30 April 11 20:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the' Tin Tabernacle' at hankham near Eastbourne. When it was built/ demolished. I think it was called st michaels and All angels.

Also any history regarding hankham cross which as far as I am aware is roughly where Foords Lane meets hankham road.

Odd request i know, but I have looked online and there is not much more information than I have already typed.

Please could someone enlighten me as to what a house child is, on a census return?

The child listed in my ancestor census return is female and one year of age. Her surname is different to the family name.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / John Wright
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 20:32 GMT (UK)  »
I have a piece of paper in my possession dating back to 1869.

It reads of a John Wright who died on Thursday Evening on 16th Sept 1869 written by his wife Harriet.

Would my best course of action be to try and find them on the 1851 or 1861 census?

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Advice needed
« on: Monday 04 August 08 22:29 BST (UK)  »
I have located my great grandmpther on the 1901 census in Hampshire. She lived with her aunt I am trying to find out about her aunt, her maiden name etc. I can not find a marriage entry in BMD as I only have the husbands surname it is difficult as she was not born in England. There is a chance they married in Canada as he was a cook's mate and later worked in the dockyard in Portsmouth. She and her niece were born in Newfoundland.

Any ideas of how I can trace the marriage? I think it took place between 1880 and 1883 as the eldest child was 7 on the 1891 census. But I have looked further back and forward than this.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Help needed please
« on: Saturday 07 June 08 21:19 BST (UK)  »
My grandmother was one of four daughters.

I know of one of her sisters was born in 1896 in Isle of Wight and died in Porstsmouth in 1915.

One was still born and the other died age two from measles. I would like to find the details of the daughter who died when she was two. But I have no idea what her first name was.

Rosa b 1896 was born in the IOW
and my grandmother who was the youngest was born in 1907 in Portsmouth.
I also know they were still living on the IOW in 1901 as I located them on the census, only Rosa is listed on there as their child. My great grandparents married in 1893 in Fareham. I do not know when they moved to IOW or when they returned.

Do you think looking through BMD with a fine toothcomb is my only option?
