Devon Lookup Requests / Mary Ann KING birth or parents in Devon
« on: Friday 16 December 11 06:46 GMT (UK)  »
I’ve been drawing a blank on the ancestry of Mary Ann KING (b. Abt. 1788) who was married at Hatherleigh, Devon on 18 Jan 1813 to Sampson MARSHALL. :'(

Sampson MARSHALL was from Stratton in Cornwall and was a young Lieutenant in the Navy. He was also the Warden at the docks in Plymouth in 1831 before he emigrated to Australia with his wife in 1834. I have much info on Sampson MARSHALL but no parents or birth place for Mary Ann KING. I know that her brother Richard KING with wife and five children were on the same ship to Australia.

There is one Mary Ann KING that I have found from LDS... Christened in 1786 in the Parish of Stoke Damerel (Portsmouth). However there is no cross reference (confirmation) to how she is linked or is actually the correct person.

Question: The marriage at Hatherleigh in 1813 may show her parents, age and her birth place. Can anyone help with any info on Mary Ann King and her brother Richard King. Where were they born and who were their parents?
Any assistance would be appreciated. Nigel (Melbourne, 8) Australia)

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Bate & Beresford
« on: Friday 30 April 10 13:16 BST (UK)  »
I'm aware that Cheshire Parish records are difficult to find on line. I have limited info on the Beresfords in Church Lawton, Betchton and Sandbach in the 1700's. Now looking for the parents and next generation back of Mary Bate b. Abt 1778 in Astbury or Church Lawton. She married William Beresford in 1797. I also have Richard Beresford b. 1750 as the father of William. I'm sure that many of the Beresfords in the area would all be related. Any help would be very much appreciated :)

« on: Thursday 02 October 08 06:35 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to track down a merchant ship Maria late 1811 and before February 1812. I believe it would have been a trading vessel on the route London to West Indies and back to London. I would like to know what kind of ship and what it was carrying and obviously a list of the crew and passengers (if any) Can anyone help? or point me in the right direction as one of our ancestors was a crew member.

Staffordshire completed Look up Requests / Brereton family in Mow Cop, Staffs
« on: Wednesday 01 October 08 03:58 BST (UK)  »
I have draw a blank on my search for the parents of my G Grandparent >:(, Frances Brereton who was born in Mow Cop abt. 1866. I believe the father was Thomas and the mother may have been Emma? There is only one Frances Brereton I could find in the UK BDM, born in 1868 but not with a father named Thomas. It would be good to find this family as I only have Frances, perhaps the Parish Records? Frances married James Beresford at Stoke-on-Trent in 1888 she was 22 years old.
Any help or others looking at the same family would be appreciated.

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Mattingley Henley-on-thames look up
« on: Thursday 24 July 08 11:30 BST (UK)  »
Working through the next level back to Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. I have conflicting info from another familiy member. Presently trying to trace the parents of Thomas James Gairns Mattingley. b, 17 Nov 1843. I believe that there are other members of the same family in the Henley-on-Thames area. The claim is his parents were John Thomas Mattingley and Elizabeth Ann Long? Like all info it's essential to confirm. Any help would be appreciated.
