Lancashire Lookup Requests / Electoral Roles in Failsworth 1906 to 1935
« on: Thursday 14 February 13 18:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am trying to trace my husbands gt grandfather, who seems to be very allusive!
We can't find any birth certificate for him, but on his service records he gives it at 4 Aug 1885, Newbiggin, Northumberland.
He was a Getter, coal miner, on both his marriage cert in 1913, Failsworth and when he enlisted in 1914. He married Mary Jane Sidlow (nee Ashworth) and she had three children to her first husband, Frank Sidlow, who died in a mining accident.
Mary Jane and Frank were living at 488 Oldham Road, Failsworth in the 1901 census. Then at 14 Schofield Street, Failsworth, in 1911.
John Seymour was living at 5 Ash Road when he got married in 1913
Then Mary and John were living at 122 Oldham Road, Failsworth, in 1914 when he enlisted.
I just wondered if someone could fill in the missing years for John?

Cheshire / Minshulls of Congleton
« on: Thursday 19 August 10 20:51 BST (UK)  »
I have got back to my 3 x gt grandfather:

Isaac Minshull
born 1813 in Wheelock, Cheshire
married 25 Dec 2835 to Lydia Ollier in Astbury, Congleton, Cheshire
died Dec 1865 in Congleton, Cheshire
Buried 31 Dec 1865 in St. Peter's, Congleton, Cheshire

My question is, do any graves still exist at St. Peters? Also, where in Wheelock would I look for Isaac's christening?

Thanks.

Does anyone know where I can find an orbituary of a Mary Jane Seymour (nee Ashworth formerly Sidlow) who died in Manchester, 1925 aged 46.

Or if anyone can find if and where she was buried?

Thanks

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Newcastle Newspapers c. 1911 - 1912
« on: Wednesday 29 July 09 17:55 BST (UK)  »
My hubbies ancestor left the Newcastle area between the census in 1911 and Feb 1913 when he was in Failsworth Manchester getting married!

In the 1911 census he was known as John Richardson living at 37 Ashfield Road, Gosforth (a 24 single man working as a coalminer) but on his marriage cert he was John Seymour, living at 5 Ash Street, Failsworth (Manchester).
He could also have been known as John Ritchie.

I'm trying to find out why!

I just wondered if there was anything in the papers that could answer this name change?

Thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Directories for Failsworth 1911 - 1913
« on: Wednesday 29 July 09 16:38 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for a John Richardson/ or John Seymour living in Failsworth from 1911 - 1913.
I think he might have been lodging with his future wife Mary Jane Sidlow.
Is there any document where he might show up, like a directory, etc?
He was probably working as a coal miner.

Lancashire / Electoral Rolls
« on: Saturday 25 July 09 23:17 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know whether the electoral rolls for Failsworth (1908 - 1913) are on line anywhere?
I've already emailed Oldham RO but just wanted to know if they were accessible over the internet?
