Family History Beginners Board / Ag Lab Origins
« on: Wednesday 06 August 08 18:35 BST (UK)  »
Some ancestors (Robert and Elizabeth Bailey) were ag labs who appeared in Bletsoe, Beds about 1780.  The first of several children (Joseph) is born there in 1779.  I cannot find the marriage of a Robert Bailey and Elizabeth Bailey  in Beds,  Hunts., or Northants in the preceeding 10 years that fits. (Must rule out Kings Cliffe)  Is there any way to trace the orgins of ag labs or does anyone know how far they tended to migrate?  There are Robert & Elizabeths recorded in the IGI, but I am assuming a distant of no more than 40 miles from Bletsoe.

HELP anyone?

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Kings Cliffe PR Look-up
« on: Monday 28 July 08 19:01 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone with access to the Kings Cliffe PR help me, please?   There is recorded the marriage of a Robert Bailey and Elizabeth Richardson in 1771.  Three questions:  1) Is there any baptismal record of children for this union  born 1771-92 ?  2) Is there a burial record for Elizabeth Bailey, spouse of Robert, for the period 1771-92?   3) A Robert Bailey is buried in 1812.  Does the entry by any chance give his age?

Problem: There is a Robert Bailey married to an Elizabeth Richardson in 1771, and a marriage for Robert Bailey (widower) to Elizabeth Butterworth  8 Nov. 1792.  Is there any chance these are two different people?

My thanks to the angel who can answer this.

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Northants Marriage Look-up: Bailey
« on: Monday 28 July 08 18:51 BST (UK)  »
Assistance,  please.  I am searching for the marriage of a Robert Bailey to Elizabeth (surname unknown) circa 1775.  Their first child is baptised in Bletsoe in 1779.  I am aware of the 1771 marriage in Kings Cliffe of Robert Bailey and Elizabeth Richardson, but that does not seem to fit.  Is there by any chance another Robert Bailey and Elizabeth marriage prior to 1779?  Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire indexes show no possibilities.

Thanks,
DavidD

*COMPLETED* I notice almost all messages are followed or preceded by an oval logo which reads "NEW".  I would have thought that was added automatically.  Why doesn't it appear in connection with my 'new' postings?

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Marriage LookUp:Beds, Hunts, Northants?
« on: Saturday 19 July 08 01:24 BST (UK)  »
I apologize if the following looks familiar to some of you.  I posted this message earlier in the "General" category rather than in the Bedfordshire LookUps:

Looking for the marriage record of a Robert Bailey and Elizabeth (unknown) circa 1778.  First child Joseph is baptised in Bletsoe September 1779.  I have found no record in Bedfordshire or immediate vicinity.  Also, searching for baptism of Robert Bailey, presumably born ca. 1759.  Any leads most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Completed Census Requests / *COMPLETED* "By certificate???"
« on: Wednesday 02 July 08 03:04 BST (UK)  »
**completed** What would the phrase "by certificate from Roxton" indicate when recorded in the marriage register of another parish?   Is that the same as saying the banns were read in that parish (Roxton), indicating residence there of one of the marital parties, or does it mean something completely different?
 Many thanks,
DavidD

Bedfordshire Completed Look ups / *COMPLETED* Riseley Parish - Bailey Family
« on: Wednesday 02 July 08 02:55 BST (UK)  »
*COMPLETED* If anyone has access to the Riseley parish records, I am interested in any and all entries (Baptism, Marriage, Burial) for the surname BAILEY in the 1700's, please. According to the IGI there was a marriage of a William Bailey and Susan Grange in 1731, and the baptism of at least two children.  What else???
Thanks in advance.
