Yorkshire (North Riding) / Usher/Widdowfield/Lilley

Hi
I am tracing my dad's family  and he originally came from Middlesbrough.  His father was Thomas Lilley who was married to Phillis Widdowfield (the daugher of James and Mary (Usher) Widdowfield.
I have managed to trace quite a lot of the Widdowfield family  history, they appear to originate from Newcastle, Co Durham and around that area.  I don't know as much about the Ushers.  My grandfather had an elder brother William ( born 1866) and three sisters.  Two of the sisters never married but I have been unable to trace anything for Ellen.
Any help you can give would be welcome.

Lanarkshire / Reid/Ferris/Welsh
« on: Wednesday 09 July 08 18:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am trying to trace my mother's roots.  She was born in Glasgow in 1910 and her parents were Thomas Ferris (son of Patrick and Bridget (nee Welsh) Ferris and Annie Reid.  My mother's parents were unmarried and, my mother was always told that her mother died following my mother's birth.  I have found out that Annie Reid actually died in April 1911. Her parents were Robert and Jane(t) (nee Cameron) Reid.  My mother was brought up by Patrick and Agnes (nee Welsh) Strain.  Agnes Welsh was the younger sister of Bridget Welsh.

Another mystery is that my mother always claimed her name was Augustina Veronica but on her birth certificate she is registered simply as Ina.  I am wondering if she was perhaps christened Augustina Veronica but I can't find records as I am unsure where she would have been christened.  I have a feeling it may have been St Luke's RC church Glasgow.
The names involved are Ferris, Reid, Cameron, Henderson, McGuire,
I have found out quite a lot, My grandfather's family appear mainly to have come over to Scotland from Ireland.  I am unsure of the Reid side, I don't know where they originate.
any help will be appreciated.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Tracing William Lilley
« on: Wednesday 09 July 08 18:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to trace the family of my G/grandfather, William Lilley, born in Islington, Middlesex in 1836.  Got to be honest, that is all I know about his origins.
He moved from there to Scarborough, where he married Martha Tann, a Fisherman's widow who had two boys, George and Robert.  They married in 1865 and had William   and then moved to Middlesbrough, where they had three daughters, Martha, Ellen and Emily and my grandfather, Thomas.
Robert, moved to Middlesbrough with the family and I have found both Robert and George Tann on various census where they are noted to be Seamen.
Any information would be gratefully received
