Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help reading occupation COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 11:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I was hoping someone could help me out with these two occupations of Evan and Robert.  I thought Roberts could be Carters Lad but have no idea what Evan's is.

Many thanks

Could someone please help me with my Gt Gt Grandfathers occupation on the 1911 census.

I got the occupation as Dock Labourer but the next column (Industry or Service with which worker is connected) is a little harder to read.

Thanks,
Lorraine

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone would be able to give these two photo's a clean up.  They were emailed to me so i don't have the originals to scan myself, anything that can be done to improve them will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, Lorraine

The Common Room / Help reading census
« on: Wednesday 04 March 09 19:26 GMT (UK)  »
Was wondering if anyone could help me out with this 1891 census.
I haven't been able to make out the road or house name. The person I'm interested is the last entry at No 18, I can see she is 18 and an Inmate (RH?)! can't make out the occupation either.
Thanks, Lorraine

Hi all,
I been looking on FreeBMD for my Gt Grandparents marriage reg to order the certificate but cant seem to find it.
The only details I have are on my grandfathers birth cert so not sure of the year they married or where.
My grandfather was born in 1908 in Liverpool and his parents were John Evans and Julia Hill.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could help  :)

Family History Beginners Board / 1891 census help
« on: Thursday 09 October 08 11:13 BST (UK)  »
I haven’t been able to find my great grandfather on the 1891census.  He was married with 7 children in 1901 and should be on the 1891 census as married with (possibly) 3 children. I have searched for each of these names individually and still come up with nothing. I remember reading somewhere that some census records were destroyed during the war, and wondered if this was one of them???  If this isn’t the case what other reason would there be for them not to be on the census? ??

It’s baffling me, but incase anyone can help here are some details.

In 1901 they were living in Battersea, London
William Farrant was born 1862 Yeovil, Somerset and his wife Lily was born 1862 in Wandsworth.
William married Lily Phipps in June 1885 Wandsworth
and their children who should have been on the 1891 census are:
Lily Farrant b 1886 Wandsworth
William Farrant b 1888 Wandsworth
and May Farrant was born in 1891 so not sure if she’d be on the census

Thanks, Lorraine  :)

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Damaged Photo...Any Hope? :o(
« on: Saturday 20 September 08 23:32 BST (UK)  »
HI  :)
I was wondering if there was anything that could be done with this photo? It's the only one I managed to get of my grandmother and would be very happy if anyone could do anything. I'm not too bothered about the tears and crumples just mainly the stain across her face.  Please help  :-*
