Canada / Canadian Army WW2 stationed England

I am Manager of the Castle House Museum ( Registered Charity) in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland
Recently a lady attended who was trying to trace her father who had been billeted in Coleshill Road, Teddington, Middlesex England in 1944. She has absolutely no other information on him other than a photograph.
She had been informed that his cap badge was that of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders a Scottish Regiment with close local connections to that of our Museum, hence her enquiry.
I am not at all convinced of this as the badge is not the correct shape. In a recent conversation with her she casually mentioned that she had heard the gentleman referred to as a "Canuck" which she thought was a Scottish term and this was reinforced in her mind due to his headgear - a Glengarry. My research has evidenced that Canadian Army personnel did wear this type of headgear. Indeed I have seen an illustration of a Canadian cap badge of the time which looks very much like the one worn.
Any help or information on how to progress this would be appreciated.
