Cheshire / 1866 marriage registered in Great Boughton but where was it?
« on: Sunday 14 June 15 17:33 BST (UK)  »
1866 marriage registered in Great Boughton but where was it? Not as easy as it sounds.

I have the marriage certificate (from the GRO) of a marriage that took place on the 15th November 1866 'at the Register Office in the District of Great Boughton in the County of Chester Flint and City of Chester'. The couple lived in Pulford which is right on the Cheshire / Denbighshire border.
The marriage isn't listed on CheshireBMD or North Wales BMD hence the only source was the GRO.

GENUKI advises that until 1870 Great Boughton had 4 sub-districts. How can I determine which sub-district they attended to get married?  The Sub-districts most likely are : Chester Castle (1837-69) ; Chester Cathedral (1837-69) or Hawarden (1837-69).

Does anyone know where the register offices were for the above sub-districts and what format the ceremony took i.e. was it in a dingy office with a couple of witnesses?

So many questions from what I thought would be a simple marriage location on the certificate.

Could Woody32 or some kind soul help out with a marriage look up please, probably in Overton but could be anywhere in that area inc. Dudleston / Darliston.

William Jenkins b1807 in Overton marries Sarah b1809-1812 from Darliston or Dudleston in the early/mid 1830's. Between 1834 and 1853, they have 7 children all born (and probably baptised) in Overton.

I have Sarahs maiden name as MANLEY but don't have a record of the source so it is no longer reliable. Another possible surname for Sarah is LEWIS from a marriage found  in Vaynor Brecon on the 22nd June 1835 but I think this is too far away  ::)

Please could someone put me out of my misery and find William and Sarahs marriage.

Thank you.

Technical Help / Ancestry keeps logging me out

In the last week, my browser no longer keeps me logged in on Ancestry.co.uk.
Each time I search or move around the site, I have to log in again and again.
Has anyone else experienced this?

World War Two / RASC death 1941 - no GRO record?
« on: Tuesday 03 August 10 22:02 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to locate the GRO reference for the death of :
Name: WILLIAMS, DAVID TUDOR
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Lieutenant
Regiment/Service: Royal Army Service Corps
Date of Death: 27/03/1941
Service No: 122452
Buried in Overleigh Cemetary in Chester

I've located his memorial in the local paper confirming he was killed on active service (but it doesn't say where) but the GRO WAR DEATHS ARMY OFFICERS INDICES (1939 to 1948) don't mention him.

No mention on FreeBMD or CheshireBMD either so the local Register Office can't help.

Can anyone advise how I might find his death certificate?

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Inquest / Coroner Records
« on: Wednesday 14 April 10 23:25 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know if the Denbighshire Record Office would have Inquest Records for East Denbighshire (Wrexham / Rossett area) for 1927?
I've looked at Archives for Wales but can't make out whether the records exist or if they do whether they will be in Hawarden or Ruthin. Has anyone had any success with locating inquest records as I believe some are missing?
Thanks

If anyone has access to the marriage records of St Matthews in Burnley, I would be ever so grateful if they could give me any more details from the following marriage records e.g. Occupations, ages, witnesses etc.

George PROCTOR m Lucy BATH 1st Aug 1898

Robert Henry BOWES m Alice BATH 2nd April 1897

William BATH m Eva Jackson 23rd Dec 1899

If there is a chance of photocoping the entries, I can send a cheque, stamps or even pay via PayPal.

Many thanks

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Stoak, St. Lawrence (C of E) Burial Records
« on: Monday 03 August 09 23:10 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone out there ever been to St Lawrence Church in the village of Stoak (aka Stoke) to look at burial records?

The reason I ask is that the Cheshire Records Office only holds Burial Records upto 1889 yet I know from a copy of the Stoak Graveyard Transcriptions taken in 1976 that burials were still taking place as late as 1961 (maybe even later).

I assume the register is still in use and as burials there are very rare it will be many years before it makes its way to the archives. Can anyone shed any light on this or has any experience of approaching the church direct to look at any records held there?

 :)

Hi,
anyone out there got any connections or info on the Bayliss family of Rossett and its environs?

Any information or pointers would help me out greatly especially if you have access to a copy of Rossett MI's  ;D

Checkout my tree on tribal pages http://theshepherdtree.tribalpages.com and search on Bayliss.

Thank you all in advance

Shep.
