Can anyone help me decipher the mother's maiden name on this Scottish death certificate please?

I have seen a marriage for William Carruthers to Mary Mather . I think this name begins with an M but could it be Mather?

Can anyone help me find the birth or bapt.  of these twins please?

Williamina and Jane Carruthers born in 1834 . The family say in Ecclefechan. Various censuses give Kirkpatrick Flemming as place of birth . The twin's surname was changed to Wilkinson and they were living in Cumberland after the 1841 census and they were both working as servants on the 1851 census

Their unmarried mother was Agnes Carruthers  daughter of William Carruthers who was  toll-bar keeper, Gretna Green in 1846.

I'm also looking for suggestions as to where I can find out more about the toll-bars in Gretna. Was there more than one? Is there a list of Toll bar keepers I can look up  ?

Would be grateful if anyone could check or point me in the right direction for the 1938 electoral register  for Kirkby Stephen piease. Does one exist ?

I know that Claude I Bound lived in the Railway cottages at the Midland Station, Kirkby Stephen in 1938 and need to know if there were any families named Johnstone or maybe Wilkinson there at that time too.

By 1939 the Bound family were living in Nateby Road , Kirkby Stephen

Dumfriesshire / Johnstone /Johnston Springfield . Gretna Green
« on: Tuesday 06 March 18 11:54 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace a marriage of George Johnstone and Mary Beattie or Mary Beattie Park , which is supposed  to have been in 1904. I have had no luck in searching on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk though I have tried various searches and also searched in Cumberland as Mary is said to be English . Can anyone suggest  where I can look next please or does anyone know this family ?

From the Scotlandspeople site I have  their daughter Elizabeth Jane Johnstone's  registration born 1st August 1909 in Gretna,  Springfield.

It states that George Johnstone , a goods porter, and Mary Beattie Park were married  on 21st July 1904 Springfield .

The 1911 census for Springfield Village , Gretna shows
George Johnstone Head aged 35 Railway Porter born Gretna
Mary Johnstone     wife         29     born England married 8 years  6 children 4 living
Joseph F Johnstone son          7      born England
Barbara Johnstone  daughter   5     born England
Elizabeth J Johnstone daughter 2     born Dumfries Gretna
Robert Johnstone      father     66    born Dumfries  possibly Uladalebie ?

Northumberland / Alnmouth and Lesbury Cricket Clubs.
« on: Saturday 18 February 12 15:55 GMT (UK)  »
My fh research has been side tracked into  trying to find out more about the histories of both Alnmouth and Lesbury cricket clubs for the present Alnmouth and Lesbury Cricket Club. The two clubs merged in 1968.
From various newspaper reports I now know that Alnmouth club was founded in 1861 by the Rev Lawrence Johnstone Stephens. curate of Alnmouth. and Lesbury CC  in 1879 by the Rev Edward L Marrett, vicar of Lesbury..Players in the early years included members of these families
Jefferson
Straughan
Gibb
Glibertson
Stewart
Dand
Rochester
and others.
I would love to hear from anyone with information on the clubs. Also any cricket photos of the clubs. Alnmouth then played on the Links in Alnmouth and a photo of them playing here would be great. Ever hopeful. Sheila
