London Church of England Banns and Marriages. Ernest Jaques and Alice Jeakings. St Mark. Old Street 11th January 1887. (Sorry-can't work out how to add cropped attachment)

Dublin / Irish Prison Registers
« on: Sunday 18 September 16 09:22 BST (UK)  »
I've found a record on FindMyPast Irish Prison Registers that might relate to  my 4x Gt grandfather.
William Taaffe

Date 21 Aug 1811
Offence - Exchequer Writ.
I take it that 'Exchequer Writ' is another term for failing to pay taxes or similar.

Is there a way of finding out more details to confirm my connection?

Many thanks

Graveyards and Gravestones / Completed - Entry in Register of B,M and deaths
« on: Thursday 13 March 14 16:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone tell me what "The Like to Mr John Ivey Grave" means on a Bunhill Fields register of deaths.Dated 24th February 1788. I've not seen this before, although the following record in the register say the same for another person.

I am trying to link it to this burial record  - 7th June 1786. "Mr John Ivey from Leather Lane in a grave"
John was my 5x Gr Grandfathers employer.

Found on Ancestry.

Many thanks

Hi

I'm hoping someone can help me find the death registration of my GGG grndmother. I have never been able to find out where she died or is buried.

I have all details of her up to the 1861 census where she is with her married daughter Emma Tooke at Fly's Close, Lowestoft. RG 9/1187/115 p36.

In 1841 she's in Spexhall with husband Thomas and 7 children (some from his first marriage)
In 1847 Thomas dies.
In 1851 she's in Colletts Yard, Halesworth with the her 4 younger children.

Many thanks

Hi

I have managed to get my Jaques family line back to Thomas b 1761 - with the help of the Jaques website.

Family history says that Thomas was born in Grittleton- son of a Huguenot farmer - but we have not been able to find a birth record there. However there is a birth record in Alderton - 3 miles from Grittleton.Mother and father named as William and Hester.

Also a marriage of a William Jaques and Hester Little - same year - also in Alderton.
There have been Jaques's in Alderton for quite a considerable time - earliest baptism on A..Cy is 1650.
The names are all ones found in the family from Thomas b 1761 onwards.

How do I link my Thomas back to William & Hester?  I can get to the Chippenham Records Office, but do not know what documents I should be looking for.

Any thoughts and advice would be very welcome.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Tom Collyer and all? - Just Tom
« on: Sunday 15 November 09 09:09 GMT (UK)  »
Would some kind person see if they can find a baptism record for a Thomas Collyer born about 1862 in Dymchurch. Father Michael Collyer Mother Jane Maynard. They married Dec 1856 in Dymchurch. There does not appear to be a registration of his birth

I have his marriage Cert - 1885 Lowestoft to my G Grandmother Emma - and his death Cert - 1938 in Peckham. Both suggest a birth date of 1862

There is however a birth and death record for a Thomas Collyer Maynard in June 1856-Dec 1856 Romney Marsh. I don't know whether to send for these and see if they help?
Many thanks

Hi
Can anyone tell me if I would be able find out what my 3x Great Grandfather Thomas died of in 1830? As it is before 1837 registration - I know it will be difficult- or is it impossible?

He was only 37 at the time. I know that this is probably about 'normal' for this time era - his father was over eighty when he died sixteen years later- and would like to find out how Thomas died

Thanks

J
