Dear All

I am doing some research for a Canadian lady at Genpals2003 into the titled match, and wonder if this links into your research.

If you can help, I would show my gratitude by looking at any of your brickwalls, or "that loose end I was meaning to get round to" that we all have.

You can either answer directly, or by answer to Carole's question under "UK Genealogy" by joining Genpals2003 via

Many thanks for your time

I would like to make contact with descendants of Bennett PENROSE of Sennen, born about 1535.

My link is through his son William from his marriage to Jane LANION, then to William PENROSE of Merther, up through the St Clement PENROSES, the Joseph PENROSES of Truro, to my Great Grandfather - Frederick PENROSE of Falmouth.

If you are a descendant, or need any help with your PENROSE research, please send me a personal message.

Myself and five other descendants of this union would very much like to hear from you.

All the best

Australia Lookups completed / PRUSSIAN descendents - JOHANN first name
« on: Friday 17 February 06 07:16 GMT (UK)  »
One of the Australian members of my new MSN Group
Genesandthings has posed this question for me and I am wondering if other Emigrant Families have looked into this and could help please?

Many thanks

"...  My husband and I are descended from Prussian immigrants coming to SA to escape religious persecution in Prussia.

I thought I knew this question but I can not remember where I got the information and now I can not find the answer, This could help other descendents of Prussians.

The question is: some Prussian families used Johann, Johannes, Johanne, Johanna for their children and then gave a proper name which was used more than the former. Some families did not use these names. I did read at one stage that only certain families could use these names as the father had been in the Kaiser's Army. But do you think I can find anything about this and was wondering maybe you can shed some light upon this.

I was looking for the father of Eliza PENROSE - born 1874 - to see whether she is related in a direct way to a person who asked me for a lookup.

In 1910, Eliza was a teacher at Hotspur State School, Victoria, and in 1901 married John Francis ROWLAND c1875-1950.

They had the following children:

Vida Louise ROWLAND b. 1903, Swan Hill, Vic;
Edna ROWLAND b. 1905, Murtoa, Vic;
Francis John ROWLAND b. 1908, Hotspur, Vic;
Annie Jean ROWLAND b. 1912, St Arnaud, Vic;
Lloyd George ROWLAND b. 1916, Melbourne, Vic.

Please reply either to this message or via a personal one.

Many thanks

Devon Lookup Requests / Lookup request for Jenfern
« on: Thursday 15 September 05 09:12 BST (UK)  »
One of my New Zealand-based family history group members is trying to trace her ancestors in Devon.

This is her message:

"I know this is a Big ask, but does anyone have the 1841 Devon census?
If so, I'm looking for Rosetta Parham/Perrin and husband Thomas..There could be a child with them..Louisa Bailey..or Parham/Perrin...They would be in either Plymouth or E Stonehouse....Thanks JenFern"

Her message was addressed to the other 34 of us who currently have a limited set of records.

Has anyone else researched these names? If you are related to them you can contact JenFern via myself and/or the DigUpYourAncestors website.

Many Thanks

Hi there

My name is Chris (based in Leeds) and I am helping a lady called Deb in Australia as part of my participation in a new all purpose personal and family history group (Genesandthings). We are trying to trace Jacob Bairstow and Sarah Garth in the UK at the beginning of the 19th century and their families into the 18th and before.

The IGI marriage for the two on 27th November 1826 in Halifax refers, which shows Jacob's death in Adelaide in 1839, shortly after arrival - Sarah shows as living until 1852. Also Jacob's notional DOB of 1804 as he was 35 when he died.

Has anyone got these two people in their family trees? Also Robert Bairstow and Hannah - Jacob's parents.

If you can have a look at the Halifax PRs I would be grateful: I will get over there sometime myself.

In return I will look up Leeds information in their extensive records.

Many thanks

Cornwall / Edward WHITE m. Maria Northy LAITY Sep qtr 1910 in Helston
« on: Tuesday 12 July 05 23:34 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the line and family of Edward White who was my Godmother's Grandfather and married in Helston in Sep qtr of 1910 (PRO/IGI). All she knows is that he was 54 when he died of cancer and that the White's have a history of cancer with 20th century life expentancy of around 40-50 - she is 66 and exceptional.

Two of their children were Lydia and William who died 'young'.

I have found a number of Laitys and have communicated this to Truro, but need information on the Whites.

Many thanks
