Northumberland Lookup Requests / 1901 census Chisholm
« on: Friday 14 October 11 14:20 BST (UK)  »
Would someone be kind enough to look up the family of Elizabeth Chisholm, born 1887, my husbands grandmother.   I think she was living in Byker with several sisters, Phylis, Isabella, Olive and Elsie but I am not sure what order she comes in the sibling line.   Thank You

« on: Sunday 29 June 08 18:04 BST (UK)  »
Elizabeth Calderwood nee Gilmore born 1841 states her place of birth as Plessy on one census and Stannington on another. Which registration district should I be looking in?   I am having difficulty finding her.

One Name Studies: A to G / Calderwood Newcastle upon Tyne
« on: Thursday 21 July 05 21:57 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone the name Calderwood in their family search?    The sons who are on the 1881 census did not marry, but perhaps through the daughters line you may have come accross the name. Thanks June

Northumberland / I'm on my way from over the pond!! Where do I start looking?
« on: Monday 23 May 05 23:42 BST (UK)  »
I am coming over from the USA for a short holiday and will be spending two days in Newcastle upon Tyne. I wish to obtain marriage certificates and check some early census records but I am confused about where to start my search.   Because I only have two days I want to get as much done as possible.    I have read the GENUKI Northumberland site but I can't decide if I need to be in Morpeth, Melton Park or the city Library for census returns. My relatives where all born and married in Newcastle.  Any tips on planning my visit.   Regards June

Found Samuel Kilgour on the 1871 census in High Church Glasgow and think I have found the same in the 1880 census for Newark, Essex New Jersey.    Is there anyway I can find out when the family left for America and how many of their children went with them.
1871...Samuel Kilgour   59
            Elizabeth (wife)  52
            Andrew  22
            Elizabeth 17
            John  9

1880    Samuel  66
            Elizabeth  62
            John  18

Thank you....... June.

Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark / Marriage look up De La Mare 1881 St Martin?
« on: Saturday 23 April 05 18:32 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyway of checking the marriage of Adolphus De La Mare to Alice Romeril.   They were both living in St Owen, as single school teachers on the 1881 census, so I am guessing they married that year after the census was taken.   There is a pedigree resouce record in Family Search for a Alice J Romeril to Adolphus in St Martins but I think it is incorrect because she is too young and not a school teacher. How reliable are predigree records?  Any info would be great. Thanks June
