Would anyone know if an unborn child would be listed as an infant on a passenger list? I'm trying to locate the birthplace of a very close family friend who died many decades ago. His mother and his half sister were listed on the passenger list AND it listed an infant 3/4 (but not the sex). I cannot find any trace of our friends birth in the U.S. or Scotland where his mother returned to. His name was John Babchuck. His Mother was Helen (Nellie) Kirk and his Father was Peter Babchuck (Russian). I'm going around in circles and it's so very frustrating. Appreciate any suggestions, comments or help. Many thanks.

Wonder if anyone might be able to offer any assistance. Many years ago my husband discovered a letter that had slipped between the floorboards of an old house he was working in. The house was in London & not Eastbourne.He brought the letter home & we'd forgotten all about it until recently. We were having a major sort out and we rediscovered the old letter. It was addressed to a MISS MAY MOLE, "Sylvan Tor" 12, Ashburnham Gardens, Eastbourne, England from a friend named Evy or Ivy from Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It was dated the 22nd May 1916 and it's just a very nice little letter to a friend. The writer refers to May's brother Clifford who's fighting in the Great War. I would love to pass it on to any surviving family members of May but really don't know where to start.  Can't bring myself to destroy the letter without trying to find any relatives who might like to have it.

I've reached a complete dead end with regards to my Great Uncle James Gilchrist & his wife Mabel (nee Hamilton) & would be so grateful if anyone might be able to help me discover when James & Mabel died.

James was born on thee 25th December 1884 in Cannanore, Madras, India(father serving in British Army). He emigrated to U.S.A. from England in 1903. He married Mabel in 1917. On the 1920 census they lived in the Assembly District 9, Kings N.Y. On the 1930 census they still lived in Kings. No mention of any children. I have found a WW1 draft registration (roll no.1754307) &  WW2 draft registration (serial no.1308) for James. On WW2 draft reg. his address was 115.61-222 Street, St. Albans, QUEENS, N.Y.

I have very little information on Mabel except she was born in New York in 1880 & her father was English.

I would dearly love to find the last part of the puzzle relating to James & hopefully Mabel.

My Great Grandfather served in the British Army and spent many years in India. He had several children by his 1st wife. His son JAMES GILCHRIST was born on the 25th December 1884, Christened on the 17th January 1885 in Cannanore, Madras. His father was JAMES GILCHRIST & his mother was JANE GILCHRIST. I'm desperately trying to discover Jane's (believe she was Irish) maiden name and thought by obtaining a copy of his birth certificate I could learn her maiden name. She died in Poonamallee. Madras on the 29th April 1886. Can anyone suggest the best way to obtain the certificate? many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, I've been trying to decipher my Great Grandfathers occupation on the 1901 English census with absolutely no success. It states that he was retired from the army but just can't make out his occupation or possibly name of company.
Is anyone able to end my despair & frustration? Many thanks in advance.
