London and Middlesex / henry,s life
« on: Tuesday 20 August 13 10:50 BST (UK)  »
hi all
my gt grandfather henry clements according to the only 2 censuses I can find him in was born either wandsworth 1881 cen or lambeth 1891 cen he died in 1896 aged 44 I,ve never been able to trace him in 1871 or 1861 cens he,s supposedly born 1852 ? on his marriage cert it says fathers name james , deceased occ soldier ?  now again I can neither find a james clements in any cens with henry or any definite proof of his whereabouts .
can anyone help with unravelling this for me as I,m unable to fathom it all out.
as an aside I have seen a death for a james clements in Crimean war records wether it,s him is debatable .

Armed Forces / gt uncles medals !
« on: Thursday 04 July 13 12:42 BST (UK)  »
hi all
I have in my possession my gt uncles various medals in the following order by date order ,
1/  this medal has no inscription on the edge as to regt or service no , on the face is the head and shoulders of king George 5 and queen mary on the reverse is a date 1911 surrounded by what looks like indian script ? .
2/ the ww1 pip squeak and Wilfred , for George went, pte 8901 royal lancs regt .
3/ Waziristan 1921-1924 George went, service no 3949779 welch regt .
4/ military medal for George went pte service no 131074  / 46/royal fusiliers
5 defence and victory medals for ww2 !.
now going by family talk on gt uncle George he was a bit of a lad where the army was concerned he initially joined up but was found to be under age so was sent home till old enough to rejoin .
I,ve tried looking in the London gazette for any mention of how or when he got the mm but with no luck I am aware that the mm awards weren,t hardly mentioned because of so many being presented .
I would like to know more about the Waziristan medal 1921/24 but as it fell outside the 2 afghan wars fought earlier I haven,t been able so far to find any written details on the 21-24 skirmishes plus what was the 1911 indian ? medal all about .

« on: Wednesday 05 January 11 11:38 GMT (UK)  »
hello all
this is a very long shot i know but does any records or books exist that give the individual crew names for bomber command i realise the sum total of members was great but all i,ve got to go on is a person called tony  ( i know i must be crazy ) but thought it might be worth a shot he was a tail gunner for what it,s worth and died of injuries received  sometime in 1945  any thoughts would be appreciated
