I have Hit a brick wall with Esther Harding.  According to census she was born 1820 in Wareham Dorset and I am looking for the name of her father/mother.

She married Harry Dash and moved to Portsea, Hampshire  Where she remained until her death in 1918.  I have all her census records and marriage, though father of the bride is not mentioned in the online record.

Does anyone have access to church records for Wareham?

Thanks

« on: Wednesday 02 May 18 11:54 BST (UK)  »
I am trying locate any useful information about Henry Miles my GGGrandfather according to a 1881 census he was born in 1846 in Stanton Wiltshire.  As I am not very familiar with Wiltshire I am wondering which Stanton it is likely to be.  For some reason this ancestor is proving most elusive in my searches.  Any pointers and help would be very gratefully received.  I don’t know his father’s name as yet he moved to South Wales Glamorganshire/Monmouthshire.

Carmarthenshire / William Davies b.1794 Llangeler
« on: Monday 03 August 15 19:16 BST (UK)  »
William DAvies is my 3xGGfather.  He was born in 1793 in the parish of Llangeler.  He worked as a weaver and on the 1841 census lived at Cwrt with his wife Ann born in Henlan, Cardiganshire
And children, John, Thomas, Mary (my 2xGGma),  David, Henry, James, and William.  By 1851 they had moved to Tygwehydd, Llangeler and Mary was now 23 and a manufacturer of woollen stuffs, she lived with her parents and Henry aged 15 now a weaver and Evan aged 8.
Can anyone guide me as to where these two addresses Cwrt and Tygwehydd are or were.
Also I have reached a bit if a brick wall in going back further than William and Ann.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

I have here a picture which is so charming and I would be very grateful if someone could
improve it somewhat and give it a date.  I suspect its Victorian, but not being much of a
costume expert I am not too sure.

Many thanks

Warwickshire / Mystery Cottage somewhere in Warwickshire?
« on: Saturday 13 November 10 15:07 GMT (UK)  »
I have this photo of two of my ancestors outside a little thatched cottage in Warwickshire.   The photo was probably taken sometime  in the late 60s or 70s and it would solve a mystery for me as to where my grandmother lived in Warwickshire.  At this date it had not changed from the 1920s when my grandmother lived there, as I have a painting of it.

I presume the cottage is probably listed in some way which may preserve it from too much alteration hopefully.

Any ideas on location?

This photo was found in my grandparents collection, and says Dad on the back of it - in order to help me find out who it is I need to know where it was taken and the era, if anyone has any clues?

thanks

Monmouthshire / JONES! born Trevethin lived in Rhymney
« on: Wednesday 15 September 10 16:18 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for any baptismal records of  Daniel Jones.  He was born approximately 1826 in Frothoyne, Trevethin, the son of John Jones and Phoebe Jones born in Kilgerran Pembrokeshire. According to the 1841 census from Hamlet of Uchlawrcoed, Bedwelty he had younger brothers Thomas 1829 Evan 1831, John 1833, William 1835 and Henry 1836 and two sisters, Mary 1839 and Eleanor 9 months old.  By the 1851 Census his father John is not listed and Phoebe is widowed living at 22 Daniels Row Rhymney Iron Works with Thomas, John, William, Henry and Mary.  Living next door at No. 23 Daniels Row is my Gt Gt Grandfather Daniel (iron miner) with his wife Mary Ann and their daughter Eleanor aged 2.  My great grandfather was John Jones son of Daniel and Mary Ann, born in Rhymney in the early 1860's

Not sure where John Jones was from but the family always call them Jones Sir Gar.

I need some direction as to finding out Phoebe's maiden name, and finding a BMD ref for John Jones given the age of 7 months on 1861 census, 12 on 1871 census, 20 on 1881 census, is it a safe bet to say September 1860?

All help gratefully received.
