The Common Room / Masons
« on: Saturday 01 October 16 16:11 BST (UK)  »
Hello
This is a general enquiry about the Masons.
I have tracked my gt grandfather down as being a member of the Stockport Masonic Lodge no 287 via the Library and Museum of Freemasonry from 1863 to 1919.

However they also advised that he was the First Principal of the Chaptyer in 1901 of the Chapter of the Stone of Friendship Ezel No 287

Does anybody have any idea what the Chapter of the Stone of Friendship Ezel No 287 is/was and what was the connection to the Masonic Lodge.

Many thanks

« on: Monday 18 November 13 19:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Just a quick request. Whilst checking the Quaker records for Durham I have noticed that beside some death/burial records there appears a note saying "not in unity".  Does anyone know what this means.
Many thanks.

The Common Room / Help needed where to loo
« on: Friday 30 November 12 16:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I have come across a brick wall and don`t know where to start looking.

I have for many years been unable to find the name of the father of Hessie Potts b 1891/2.  Recently Find My Past has made available old newspapers and found a reference to a trial in the Nisi Prius Court in Liverpool.  Although they mention the fathers surname his christian name is not recorded in the newspaper article.

Does anyone know if or where is would be possible to get a copy of the full Court hearing in order to identify the fathers full name?

Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards

Canada / Looking for a Chipchase - help please
« on: Sunday 11 September 11 23:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I have just discovered that a Joseph William Chipchase was part of the Home Children scheme and in 1870 arrived in Quebec on board the "Peruvian" aged 20 years.

I know he went later in life, approx 1880, to Cleveland Ohio but was wondering if he was registered on the Canadian 1871 census. He was a shoe/bootmaker by trade and was born in 1849.

Does anyone know if there is any way I can found out this information please?

Many thanks

Durham Lookup Requests / Durham Marriage Bonds
« on: Monday 19 April 10 21:53 BST (UK)  »
Just wondering if anybody had access to the Durham Marriage Bonds for 1725 - 1750.  I am trying to trace the family of Chipchase.

I know that they were living in Stockton on Tees around and after these dates but have no idea where they came from.  There is a birth of a Thompson Chipchase to John and Elizabeth Chipchase in 1730 - no trace of Elizabeth`s maiden name.

If anybody has any ideas please let me know.

Thanking you in anticipation.
