Canada / Inter Library Loan
« on: Wednesday 09 May 12 00:53 BST (UK)  »
I just recieved this in my email. I think best I share this news report. I hope this is the right forum as it pertains to Canada. :(

The Federal Budget, released in late March 2012, included a number of cuts to Library and Archives Canada (LAC).  Library associations and other stakeholders across Canada have been seeking more information since the budget's release. The Canadian Library Association (CLA) posted the following message to their website on May 7, 2012:

------
In our recent press release on the impact of cuts at Library and Archives Canada and other federal department libraries, CLA indicated that LAC was ending ILL [interlibrary loan service], which caused discussion on a number of lists.

I have asked for clarification, and LAC has confirmed that it is the end of ILL as we have known it.

LAC is looking at a variety of models for making their holdings widely available within their financial constraints.

The current service will end February 15 2013; the successor to the current ILL program will be announced in the fall of 2012.

Canada / Ontario Death Certificates
« on: Monday 09 April 12 05:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
I am not sure how to find 'New Topic' in the Ontario folder.
I want to have a copy of a death certificate form for Ontario.
When I go online, I find one that is made in Nelson BC that demands $65. I believe the price in Ontario, the official form is $50. I have to fill this form out hardcopy, since I do not have a copier, I have to download then send to a friend who has a copier. I hope to send a money order or a certified cheque. I believe the city I send the form to is Thunder Bay.
Can someone help me please , post the correct place to find this death certificate form for Ontario, believing the price is $50.
Thanks,
Razzy

Canada / Native Reserves and federal census'
« on: Tuesday 15 November 11 07:38 GMT (UK)  »
I would like to know if censuses were ever done for native reserves and if they started, when?
On or off Reserves also would be metis.
At this time, I am searching for a relative who was born about 1882 and
according to her Nov 17th, 1911 Ontario marriage certificate was born on Wabaskang Reserve in Ontario, #6280.
Jane or Jean Perriott, however, it seems her maiden name would be more accurate as Perrault.
Her father was either Harry or Joseph but, that name does not seem to exist.
Apparently the chief was a Perriot; however apparently there was also an indian agent by the same surname.
So I was trying to find more information thru censuses.
When were censuses on reserves included?

Canada Lookup Request / KIRCHEN immigration 1880?
« on: Tuesday 15 November 11 02:52 GMT (UK)  »
I am tracing my relatives roots.
In the 1881 census of Canada (from ancestry library edition)
Oxford, Woodstock, Ontario, Canada
I have:
William Kirchen age 23
Martha 34
Ann 13
William 11
Thomas 9
David 3
Robert 1
All were from England and born in England.
When I checked the 1916 federal census for John Thomas KIRCHEN (listed as Thomas in the above census) with wife Jane in Ontario, Rainy River district, the immigration year is given as 1886.

I checked the Ships List, I checked NAC, I was not able to find William or Martha.
Can I recieve some help please?,
Thanks,
Razzy
I forgot to add how it is impossible for them to have immigrated in 1886 according to the 1916 census due to the fact of this family being in Ontario in the 1881 census.
When I check the other males in the 1901 census (William and Thomas) the immigration dates vary.

Canada Lookup Request / Ignace, Ontario
« on: Thursday 03 November 11 00:55 GMT (UK)  »
I recently found out that my great grandmother Olive MASTERS died in Ignace, Ontario
on September 15th, 1953.
She left her home in Manitoba to visit and died in Ignace.
Olive ws buried in Teulon, Manitoba.
Is there somebody who can retreive her death registration online?
Since she died in Ontario, I am guessing her death registration would be in Ontario even though Olive as a Manitoba resident.

Northumberland / William S. and Jeremue J GRAHAM
« on: Monday 26 September 11 08:12 BST (UK)  »
I want to find out what the 'S' in Williams middle name is.
William is the son of Francis and Thirza Alice.
William (the son) is born in 1876 in Newcastle upon Tyne
the 1881 census Westgate (civil)
Newcastle (municipal)
Newcastle (parlimentary)
Newcastle (urban)
St. Johns (eccl.)
#191 Chapel Street
His siblings are:
Jeremue J.
Alice J.
Chatherine B.
and William S.

In the 1891 census the same family is Westgate (civil)
Newcastle upon Tyne (municipal borough)
Westgate south (Municipal ward)
Newcastle upon tyne (urban)
Newcastle upon Tyne (parlementary)
St. Johns (eccl)
#353 Blenholme Street ?? Art??

In searching the Freebmd maybe this William S. married
1st Mary A HESLOP
and 2nd Elizabeth S. STEWART
Possibly this William is the same that died in Dec 1924 in Tynemouth.
I haven't spent the money on certificates to follow thru to confirm.

I am also desiring to learn about Jeremue J. who was born in 1869 in London and his other brother (Francis J.) also born in 1869 in Hoddam Dumfires.
I am thinking maybe the two are one and the same person.

If I can recieve help on this,
thanks,
Razzy
