have got him down as a Samuel Jenkins - think we got that and the army details from his daughter's marriage certificate. I do find it strange that I can't track him down anywhere and his daughter only as of 1841 when she appears in the census in Thurnby Leicestershire (Billesdon district)

looking for Corporal Jenkins who was born 1800ish and died 1851ish. Think he came from Chatham, Kent, UK but haven't managed to track him down yet. he did serve with the royal leicestershire/17th regiment of foot. Please can anyone help me out?

oh thank you - I had googled it and got nowhere. Asked my husband who's from Maidstone and he hadn't got a clue. I guess I need to see if I can find out what regiment Samuel was in in order to try to track down any more information on him

need to trawl through the stuff at my mum's but am sure Samuel is father and he was a corporal. I went to Chatham quite a few years ago to the records office and drew a complete blank for both of them. thanks for your help. the census records are quite interesting but unfortunately 1841 already has her in leic's so i'm no better off. Any ideas as to Chatham i Kirk?

Help- I can't find this person but she married Charles May in Thurnby leicestershire sometime between 1851 and 1861. According to the census she was born in chatham, Kent and her father is Samuel. I can't find either her or her father's birth. Samuel's dates are 1800-1851 and I'm sure he was in the army but i'm drawing a complete blank. ???

I need to get to the box of stuff at my Mum's in order to sort out what we have or don't have. In short Surnames in Great Glen of interest are Franks, Gilbert, I'm not sure of the wives' maiden names without the box. I know my Great Gran had a workshop in Great Glen when she had her first child and that the Gilberts ran 1 if not 2 pubs in Great Glen.
Once i have more information I'll come back to you. We also had connections with Bushby through the Mays, Wheelwrights.

not sure whether i'm doing this correctly however- I googled my Great Gran, Constance Mabel Gilbert who lived in Great Glen and came up with this link. This is my Great Gran's family- can you let me know who SC is and how they're linked????
