Thank you Jen B. The 1828 map is interesting. It features quite predominantly on this map, and yet, when you look at Howlett Hall today it looks quite small and not worthy of being included on such a map.

Thank you very much everyone - I am really pleased. I didn't know Hall referred to a farm - I was expecting a large house. Thank you also for the census info and also for the detailed map locations. Am glad this one is resolved now - I am grateful to you all.

Northumberland / Howlett Hall Warkworth

Hi
Could anyone give me information about Howlett Hall in Warkworth? My Great Great Grandmother worked there in service probably around 1875-1880. On a recent trip to Warkworth we explored the area, but only found a couple of cottages named Howlett Cottages. I recall a few years ago there was a sign from the River Coquet indicating Howlett Hall but this is no longer there. If anyone could give me any help I would much appreciate it!

Thank you - that is certainly a really good thought - I will have to investigate this as a possibility.

Thank you all so much for your very helpful replies! It is still a mystery to me where he ended up. I can find no record of him anywhere in the world! I think that the most likely scenario is that he died either before he was transported or during the voyage out to Australia. Unfortunately the Irish records don't start this early so I will never know...........

If anyone does ever find a trace of him, please do let me know!
