Hello again,
We have a road map and street directory of Bridport, but do you know the name of the road where your relative lived ? I have another idea - Bridport has its own webpage, I think, and its own newspaper s- Bridport News or Bridport Echo - so couldn't you put a note in them ? Someone may remember your friend. Do you suppose she would still be alive ?
I know there's a way to find living people, because I have tried that for people I've been looking for. There's also the electoral register - I think you can look up past years, but I'm not sure where it is kept - perhaps in the main post office. So you'd have to visit Bridport. Couldn't you spend a couple of days there ? It's lovely for a little holiday if you can afford it. We have been going every year - until this year ! I don't know if we shall go this year as my husband seems to have acquired agoraphobia . You can get a train to Crewkerne, and then get a taxi to Bridport (about 5 miles away) At Bridport there's a local museum and record office, and possibly the record office would have some ideas about how to trace someone.
I'm Geraldine Gasparelli -
