Europe / Re: Tracing my family back to Sora, Italy

Hello  Christian Cerrone,
When you went to Sora, did you find all the records you needed to trace your ancestors ?  The LDS  has birth, marriage and death records for Sora (Frosinone)
1809 - 1899.  You could order the films at a LDS  Family Search Centre near you (in most large towns) and then go and take the necessary notes.  The records would be in Italian.

I am researching a Mary Ann (Polly) Pye  (later Mary Ann Beecham) who, in the 1901 census. has Chorwell, Yorks. as her place of birth. Chorwell isn't in the Phillimore Atlas of Parishes. Does anyone know where it is , please ?  Rosecott

Dorset / Re: Barnes Family of Dorset

Hello Pete,
I've only just read your entries about the Barnes family., and by now you may have all the answers to your questions..  But I thought I'd let you know that someone on the Ancestry.co. site is researching the same family as you. Apparently the Barnes family is connected with the Ford family but I couldn't get any more details without actually writing a message to the researcher, who has data on Lilian Rose Barnes, Gladys Poppy Philis Barnes, etc.  I subscribe to this site and could contact them  on your behalf if you are unable to.

Dorset / Re: Bridport Kellys directory ?
« on: Wednesday 11 June 08 15:58 BST (UK)  »
Hello again,

We have a road map and street directory of Bridport, but do you know the name of the road where your relative lived ?   I have another idea - Bridport has its own  webpage, I think, and its own newspaper s- Bridport News or Bridport Echo - so couldn't you put a note in them ? Someone may remember your friend.  Do you suppose she would  still be alive ?
I know there's a way to find living people, because I have tried that for people I've been looking for.  There's also the electoral register - I think you can look up past years, but I'm not sure where it is kept - perhaps in the main post office. So you'd have to visit Bridport. Couldn't you spend a couple of days there ? It's lovely for a little holiday if you can afford it.  We have been going every year - until this year ! I don't know if we shall go this year as my husband  seems to have acquired agoraphobia . You can get a train to Crewkerne, and then get a taxi to Bridport (about 5 miles away)  At Bridport there's a local museum and record office, and possibly the record office would have some ideas about how to trace someone.
I'm Geraldine Gasparelli - ggasparelli@aol.com  and live in Greater London.   Where are you ?

Are you trying to find the year of death ?  Wouldn't the free BMD site have that ?  The  Ancestry co. site show phone numbers and addresses of people up to a certain year (can't remember which year this is, though).   The Probate Office in  London would have  a list of Wills or Letters of Administration but I think  there is one volume for each year, so it would  mean working through all the possible years of death.  Some villages/towns have thir own web page where you could post a query,  and there is always the local newspaper .

« on: Wednesday 08 February 06 17:06 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone researching, or has anyone information  on WILLIAM VANSTONE. born 1856/1857 Winkleigh (according to 1891/1901 censuses) ?   He came to London, married Mary Ann Allum of Fulham in 1883  and his children were all born in Fulham, London.

I cannot find his baptism in Winkleigh.  Would 'Winkleigh' cover other villages ?
