Hi All
I have family history dating from 1840 when Bryan (aka Bren, family from Garrnamona in the Parish of Ballycahill) and Margaret Cummins (nee Sheedy born c1800 Thurles, Parish of Ballycahill, Co Tipperary) emigrated to Australia.
They arrived with three of their four children Catherine, John and Patrick but not Margaret who would have been about 3, she apparently arrived in Victoria c1843.
I will be in Ireland for the month of June 2011 and was hoping to travel around the area the family came from. If anyone can give me information or links to the family from Garrnamona, Ballycahill or Thurles that would be wonderful. Also any places you would recommend me to visit when I am in th area.

Hi I know this is an old post from you but I am looking for similar information and was wondering if you had any useful responses. I'm a descendant of Robert Calder and Helen Davidson through their son Robert and his wife Martha Hood who emigrated to Australia.
I live in Broome, Western Australia but I am going to be in Scotland in July 2011 and was hoping to visit the area they came from. I can't find any information of where Whiterig is though. Can you help with anymore info?
