That is really interesting and ties in with other info I have.
Poor Ann was only 24 when she died - I had assumed that she had died in childbirth
John Ablitt died in April 1842 - 6 months after that newspaper article, so was presumably failing

Thank you so much for those details J.

Hi Ciderdrinker,

Many thanks for that. I'm actually interested in the Ablitts, rather than the Walters - but much appreciated nonetheless.

All good wishes,  Joan
(PS, I also enjoy cider!)

Many thanks for this, Trish.  The family were non-conformists, so useful info from the baptismal register.

Suffolk / Marriage lookup - Ipswich

Please could someone kind check the details of the marriage between Charlotte ABLITT and William WALTER. Ipswich St Matthew, 15 Jan 1852. A photo of the register entry would be wonderful, otherwise details (esp the father...) would be very useful
Many thanks in advance

Could someone with access to Epsom, St Andrew registers please check the marriage of
Harry Woodyear-Smith in 1957
The record comes from a NZ newspaper archive and I’m very puzzled!
Many thanks in advance

Hi, Yes, thank you. Very useful - (but it’s Woodyear, not Goodyear - probably an issue with computer transcription. )

It is wonderful to have this help.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Longstock School

My Great great grandfather, Thomas Smith, was a schoolmaster at either Longstock or Kings Somborne School in the early 1800's (he died in 1841 aged 72 and is described as 'a schoolmaster' on his death certificate).
Does anyone know anything about the history of either of these schools - or who I might approach?
Many thanks in advance

Hi Marcus,

Many thanks for this - Robert Skeet is my maternal great great grandfather, son of Robert Skeet & Sarah Dove - but I didn’t have his exact date of birth.
I did not know either about the Strict Baptist Historical Society or The Evangelical Library
The family were mainly non-conformist, so this is new and interesting information.

I really appreciate that you have taken the trouble to send me these details.

Best wishes,  jkgla.
