Thanks CaroleW - yes you are right and have got the right person.  His first wife died in 1985 and he remarried in 1986 to a Joan Morris - she lived until 2002 in the same house and was cremated in Grantham.

Thanks also Colin Lamb - I have checked Lincoln as well but thought it unlikely as he lived most of his adult life in Grantham, worked there and died there.  His parents lived in Sleaford and I havent yet found a burial for them,  brothers also in Sleaford - there is no crematorium in Sleaford they use Grantham as well.  There was no will   :(

Hi - hope I am posting this in the right place!  I am trying to find the whereabouts of a relative who took his own life on 8th October 1987 at home in Grantham. I have the death certificate and there was obviously an inquest held in Grantham.  Both of his wives were cremated in Grantham but the crematorium has no record for Harry B Hempstead for either burial or cremation.  Does anyone have any knowledge of whether there was a particular process in these cases in 1987?  I am aware that it may be different to present day.  Thanks  :)

Thanks again rosie99 - I will check out that link!  Can any other details be seen on the family tree on Ancestry groom?  Such as wife or children (We would like to make contact if we can before its too late!)

Thank you very much Rosie99 & groom - yes that is the right person, I put the wrong DOB down!  I'm very grateful to both of you, I didn't expect to get such quick replies!  Parents are definitely right as we checked my godfather birth cert (my godmother never met any of his family!) Perhaps from this address we might be able to find out if he had children or if he married?  Also any ideas where I might be able to find military records?

Hi, I'm not sure where to put this query so I'm hoping that if this is in the wrong place someone will advise me!  My godfather is nearly 88 and suffering from dementia and I have offered to help his wife to find out what happened to his older brother who he hasn't seen for more than 50 years. Having done a bit of research (I am no longer signed up for any of the family history sites)  I have found that his brother was called Peter John Lynch born Gravesend 1922.  He was a Flight Sergeant in the RAF during WW2 as received a Distinguished Flying Medal in 1944 his RAF no was 1391878.  This is all we know and we can no longer ask my godfather.  I know him still being alive is an extremely long shot but we would like to find out, if we can, what happened to him during the war and then what happened afterwards.  We know he was in 61 squadron but have no idea where he settled after the war.  Hope someone can help!

Thanks also to Geoff - yes I had been told about the Brookes, think that must have been who originally built the house.  A photo still seems to be elusive though but I will keep trying.  Someone mentioned a local history book which has recently been published about the West End, does anyone know anything about it?

Thanks Stan for your help, much appreciated.  I will get back to the planning dept David, as last time I spoke to them I didn't know the date of demolision and was looking for the original plans which they don't have (nothing before mid60s) Thanks to you too!

I think (and I may be wrong!!) that the small shaded square to the front & right of that plot that is on the corner is the house. Will ask my brother as he remember the house!  Thanks again.
