Thanks very much - I believe the family went to Pennsylvania after their arrival in the US.

Hi Kath,

Yes, that is them - I think Frances may have reverted to her previous married name, Lewis, as she married again in the US to James Doney and used the name Lewis, not Armstrong. However I don't know which name she used on the ship over there. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

Cheers,
Cheryl

United States of America / LEWIS and ROWNEY emigration to USA 1887
« on: Tuesday 01 January 08 23:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find information about my ancestor Frances Lewis who emigrated from the UK with her three sons, Thomas Rowney and Ralph and Edward Lewis in 1887. Is there any way I can discover the name of the ship they sailed on and where they would have landed in the US? I've checked Ancestry.com etc. but no luck.

Kind regards,
Cheryl

« on: Wednesday 16 November 05 02:46 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for the information re Arthur Field and Annie Argent. Arthur's parents were Thomas and Arabella Field and lived in Salcombe, Devon.

Would anyone be able to look up the family in the 1891 England census for me, please?

Thank you,
Cheryl

Devon Completed Lookup Requests / Arthur FIELD and Annie ARGENT
« on: Sunday 14 August 05 05:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi everybody,

I'm trying to find out information about Arthur Field, a carpenter from Devon, who married Annie Elizabeth Argent at Newton Abbot in 1904, after which they moved to Sevenoaks in Kent. Their son, Argent Arthur, was born at Sevenoaks in 1905.

I've traced Annie's family but haven't found out any more about Arthur's. Can anyone help, please?

Cheers,
Cheryl

Would anyone be able to check the 1841 and 1851 census records for Moss, Broughton for the family of Thomas and Hannah LEWIS, please?

The family was living at 117 Moss Hill (I think) at the time of the 1861 Wales census. They had three sons at home, Abraham, Edward and Ralph. As the parents were born in 1798 (Hannah) and 1807 (Thomas) I wondered if there were other children born before 1841. Thomas was a labourer and the sons were all coal miners. Also how would I check for pre-1837 records?
Regards, Cheryl
