Hi MrBee, yes that would make sense, seeing as the ward as far as the council is concerned is still known as the Eastwood ward, and other names like Eastwood Road leading down to Hazelhurst Street. I am keen to see any photographs that may exsist of that area, older the better, but all the ones I have found in books etc seem to centre on the potbanks etc instead of Leek Rd itself

Hi there, I just came across this thread and think I may be able to help a little. I now live in the house which was until approx 4 years ago, still a corner shop as well as a domestic residence. The property was numbered 102 on the 1901 and 1911 census, and the property numbered as 55 also was subject to the same alcohol restriction. The original owners of the shop in the early 1900's was a family by the name of Warrington. I too am most interested to find out as much as possible about the house/area.
