Suffolk / Re: HALF MOON Public House, Pakefield. KING family..?

Hi Shannon, I'm also descended from Samuel King, my Grandmother was Louisa King, possibly named after Samuels wife, her great grandmother. I suspect you already know about this post https://suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/2413 - is it your name on there? Trevor

the 1841 census shows a 10 year old Philip Reynolds as being a pupil at Bancroft's Hospital, Stepney, Mile End Old Town, Tower Hamlets, Middlesex. No other Reynolds are listed for this address. The only other Middlesex listing was for a Phillip aged 5 in Marylebone. Hope this helps. TJ

Hi, one of my family Joseph Bentley was also born in Middlesex and worked on the drifter fleet out of Barking. In the 1870's (need to check exactly), the fleet moved to gorleston/yarmouth as the cost of operating from the london port area became very high, and many of the crews stayed with the fleet. This probably was how Philip came to Gorleston.

Hi, quite probably a (very) long shot but if you look at the foxearth site about the pentlow riots in1772 http://www.foxearth.org.uk/blog/2005/01/pentlow-riot.html  a Thomas  Deeks was involved. I've been talking to an Ottley who has a record of Susannah Ottley being transported to Christopher Island (now St Kitts) along with several other prisoners, names of whom she is digging out for me. If Thomas was one of them, and married in the carribean and returned later, that may be your source (none of the four were named in the lists of executions for the period).

Personally I'm chasing Samuel Allen, possibly  another son of my direct Issac Allen (1730-71).

So far the trail ends at 43 Plumber Street. I'm still trying to break through the "brick wall", but know nothing further about the family as all information prior to Joe arriving in suffolk seems to have been lost. All we have is a copy of his birth certificate.

The Common Room / Re: Tracing land ownership 1700/1800's

The land registry office just points to a website house-detective.co.uk which in turn points to the national archives.

The Manorial records sound very interesting. The Archives say some including Norfolk are now online.

I've sent you a PM Teddybear. Thanks both of you.

Does anybody have any pointers on how to trace the purchase or transfer and sale of land, in my case a farm in norfolk in the late 1700's?  ???
