Monmouthshire / Re: Burial Place - Winifred Henrietta Higgs
« on: Wednesday 11 September 13 16:10 BST (UK)  »
That's my next course of action. Her son was 12 when she died, he's still alive but does not know burial place. I am in touch with his daughter who has asked me to help find where she is buried. Sketchy info states she died in a Pontypool hospital but was living in the Raglan area

Monmouthshire / Burial Place - Winifred Henrietta Higgs
« on: Tuesday 10 September 13 23:05 BST (UK)  »
I'm searching for a burial record for Winifred Henrietta Higgs who died in the September quarter 1939 aged just 34. Her death was registered at Pontypool and I've been told she died in hospital which could either be the County Hospital, Griffithstown or the Pontypool & District, Pontypool.

Sketchy info suggests Winifred was living in the Raglan area upon death but that has not yet been verified. Her death was registered as Winifred Higgs

Seems you may have the same problem as I did with my West Wales secret society connections starting off as MORGANS and then changing to MORGAN.

There is a marriage in 1847 that would match data but this was registered in Pembroke, but I still fancy those Cardigan registered marriages

Marriages Dec 1847
Morgans    John        Pembroke    26   1025
Williams    Maria         Pembroke    26   1025

In 1881 John and Maria indicate they were born abt 1813, that's 10 years difference from other census returns of abt 1824

St. Dogmells / St. Dogmaels came under Cardigan Register Office area, and two of the marriages (both 1845) I quoted were registered in Cardigan if they married in St. Dogmaels, as they were both born c1824 making them 21 tying the knot.

You can now kill two birds with one query to Cardigan Register Office

1. Verify Benjamin's birth in 1865 for parents
2. Check out both 1845 marriages and see if they match up

I can confirm I have the right family in 1851 as there is a tree online listing children of John and Maria

Elizabeth Morgan 1848 –
John Morgan 1850 –
Mary Morgan 1855 –
William Morgan 1858 –
David Morgan 1859 –
James Morgan 1863 –
Benjamin Morgan 1865 –

Another suggestion, on the 1871 census David has a younger brother born c1865 in Cardigan.

Can only find these births
Births Jun 1865
Morgan    Benjamin         Cardigan    11b   2
Morgan    Benjamin         Cardigan    11b   5
MORGAN    Benjamin         Cardigan    11b   5

Why not contact Cardigan register office and ask them to check those three records for parents of John and Maria, you will then find mum's maiden name that way

John and Mariah appear as married on the 1851 census in St Dogmaels

HO107/2481/382 p 3

John Morgan    27
Maria Morgan    27
Elizabeth Morgan    3
John Morgan    1

So you need to look for a possible marriage pre 1848 if they married before the first born

There's a marriage of Maria Griffiths in 1843 in Pembroke
Maria Rees in 1845 in Cardigan
Maria Jones in 1845 in Cardigan
A John Morgan appears as a possible husband on all three records

Carmarthenshire / Re: Trelech / Cenarth Area Burials - UPDATED NEW INFORMATION
« on: Monday 12 August 13 20:22 BST (UK)  »
I have new information which may help locate the graves I'm searching for :-

I now have Anne Jones death certificate stating she died 23rd June 1880 aged 62, and also she was logged as being wife to David Jones a labourer.

Anne Jones died at CILFOD FACH, CENARTH so will that help any member find her burial place please

I have also found her husband still alive in 1881 and 1891 still living at CILFOD FACH, CENARTH, he was 75 in 1891 and a grandson John Jones was with him. On previous census David Jones lists his place of birth as Penboyr but in 1881 and 1891 he has put Llangeler, which is a stones throw from Penboyr.

I have found 3 possible deaths for David registered at Newcastle Emlyn, one in 1894 and two in 1900 which would explain why he's not around in 1901, this may help find his wife's grave if David was placed on top of her
