Looks Like Louisa married at 17 in 1949 before she married Johannes!

Put the name into familysearch there is a marriage record and two baptism records indexed.
I had the marriage certificate but thanks for the baptisms. There are 7 children all together!  Think we may have to wait patiently till next year for her father's birth certificate as it doesn't come up in any research I have done so far. :(

Presumably you know his Identity Number, you could apply for a vault copy of his birth certificate which would have his parents listed. This may take some time and would depend on the department finding it.
What religion was he - I see that their children were baptised in the NGK church but they were married by a magistrate. Once you know what religion he was you could look for the church records on familysearch - you will probably need to look in the catalogue for a town in the Pongolo district

 Hi Gillian,
Thanks for your reply, yes the identity number is on his Death Notice. Not sure of his religion, where did you see the baptism of his children, on Family Search? I  think my friend is going to try and get his birth certificate next year when visiting South Africa and I have given her the form to fill in. We know it can take some time. We were hoping we might find a baptism for him before then though. :)

Hi All,
I'm trying to search for a friend's father born Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa in 1924
His name was Johannes Marthinus Palmer. I have his marriage certificate and death but we are unable to find his birth. We specifically would like to push the research back at least another generation.
Thanks,
Lois

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Wentworth burials (Norburn)

Hi Damian,
I will send you more details via PM but I'm quite lucky that two people sent me their quite extensive research on the Norburns. One was the ancestor of John and we went out for lunch so no hard feelings there! I was featured in a readers story for WDYTYA magazine about the Norburns so if you give me your email via Private Message I can send a copy of that too. Also can you give me the dates of Samuel, Charles and Lydia as the names repeat endlessly down the generations.
Thanks,
Lois.

NORBURN   John   17   May   1829   31   Thorpe Common
This was my GGG Uncle who was killed by his brother William, my 3x grandfather. Great story in the Sheffield Independent Sat 15th Aug 1829 about it. Tried to scan it but won't let me paste it here so if anyone wants a copy I will send it to you. :)

Clare / Re: Hugh King Francis

Thanks for that Hallmark but the gentleman concern was born between 1800- 1806 so registers don't cover this period. He was at least in England by 1833 when he married in Handsworth (Sheffield) I will see if I can spot other relatives though :)

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply. The lady I am doing the research for has visited both Clare and Galway but didn't have any luck in finding any more information. It's a pity people travelling over from Ireland weren't recorded the same way as other countries :(

Hi,
If you are also searching Hugh King Francis we have probably already been in touch. I'm Lois Hopkins and doing the research for someone else. If you have any more information about records in Clare I would be happy to hear from you.

Thanks,
