Ok thanks for looking. I'll maybe send for it when I've contacted my husband's sisters to update them. Helen

Hi Scotslink, hope that you have had a chance to search through your certificates and that you may have found the marriage certificate for Ellen Alway (Reed) to Charles Brett, would perhaps be the reason for the family being unable to trace what happened to her under her previous name. It would be nice to be able to move forward in the search for what happened after she left William Alway and disappeared. Hope you can help. Thanks, Helen

Thanks scotslink for prompt reply, would appreciate your search for certificate.  My husband's Mum was Ellen's youngest daughter Doris, was only little when her Mum walked out. Appreciate any info.

Hi scotslink, I have just found your post from September 2013, re Ellen Alway ( Reed ). I am doing some research on behalf of my husband  who is Ellen Alway's grandson. Did you ever send for the marriage certificate of Ellen Reed and Charles Brett. Would be really interested to know if any other info has emerged since your posts of Sept 2013.

hello Toni, I'm Helen, I have just registered as found this site by chance whilst looking up some family history. I realise yours is an old posting from 2012 so I'm hoping you are still looking for your ancestors. I have quite a bit of Stevens history already, you say your direct line is from Matilda Stevens, mine is from Matthew her brother, who is my great grandfather. Are you still searching for info. I have looked up most of Matthew's siblings with some success, also his father and grandfather. Do hope to get a reply as still needing help.
