Hi Sinann & Tara,

Thank you for your help with this :)

I've conducted many searches on the Family Search Website - to no avail :(
I really don't know where to go to get any decent search results for my Irish Family? Every search I've undertaken has gone nowhere. I know there were historical problems with regard to record loss, but I can get no results for Ireland at all - Athlone, Roscommon or Cork...

I've seen all of the BRUDELL Family Trees on Ancestry, thanks Tara - they have all gotten only as far as I have (& they are relatives).

There must be some way to trace these relatives a little further back? Surely? I just feel like I must be doing it all wrong in my search for my Irish Family...

Cheers,

Nikkii

Hello All!

I'm seeking my Great Great Grandparents From Strokestown, Roscommon.

Emily Josephine BRUDELL (or BRUDLE) b. 25 AUG 1879 Bunnamucka, Strokestown, Roscommon.
Michael Joseph MURRAY (or Murry) b.11 SEP 1872 Carnvalley, Strokestown, Roscommon

I have Birth Certs for my Great Grandparents Emily BRUDELL & Michael MURRAY.

I am seeking any information available on their parents:

Bridget MCDERMOTT & Michael MURRAY(or MURRY)of Carnvalley -Parents of Michael Joseph MURRAY
Mary HUNT & Luke BRUDELL(or BRUDLE)of Bunnamucka - Parents of Emily Josephine BRUDELL

I have only been able to get as far back as Emily Josephine BRUDELL & Michael Joseph MURRAY's Birth Certificates (which an older relative, unfortunately now deceased, somehow got issued in Roscommon, Éire by the Superintendent of Births and Deaths in 2002).

I'd be so happy if anyone is able to help locate Birth Records (for all of the 4 people listed below), & Marriage Records between:

Bridget MCDERMOTT & Michael MURRAY(or MURRY)of Carnvalley, Strokestown, Roscommon.
&
Mary HUNT & Luke BRUDELL(or BRUDLE)of Bunnamucka, Strokestown, Roscommon.

I would be ever grateful for any kind of assistance anyone is able to provide :)

Thanking you in advance!!! :)

Cheers,

Nikkii

Hi Tara,

Thank you for your kind help :)

No, those queries were not from me. This is the first query I have made regarding Honora Hogan & her parents.

This lady must be a relation of mine - interesting.

I might contact her to see how far she has gotten.

Cheers,

Nikkii

Hi Tara,

That's great! Thank you!

The Marriage Cert lists his profession as 'Handyman'.

Is there any way of tracing her parents Marriage or Births/Deaths?

Cheers,

Hello All!

I'm searching for my Great Great Grandmother Honora Hogan Born c.1846 Mitchelstown Cork. Her Marriage Cert lists her parents as Michael Hogan & Catherine McCarthy.

She emigrated to Australia some time before 1878.

I can find no records relating to Honora Hogan, or her parents. I am wondering where the best place to find information is? I would be most grateful for any assistance at all :)

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Nikkii

Aberdeenshire / Re: Searching for Alexander JOHNSTON/Elizabeth WALKER - Aberdeen

Hi Gadget,

It all adds up! Wonderful! Thank you :)

I've had a look at Scotland's People & it all fits nicely. I just can't find any Death Records for any of the Alexander JOHNSTON's, Barbara JOHNSTON (nee LEYS), or Elizabeth JOHNSTON (nee WALKER).

???

Alexander JOHNSTON & Barbara LEYS Marriage in 1805 states that her Father is an Alexander LEYS (Farmer), though the only Barbara LEYS born to an Alexander LEYS I can find was in 1805 (which doesn't fit the time frame at all). I can't reconcile the 1783 Barbara LEYS d/o James LEYS and Margaret FARQUHARSON (the dates all add up here though) with the Marriage Record? If I could find a Death Record for Barbara JOHNSTON, I could sort that out.

Alexander JOHNSTON & Wife Elizabeth JOHNSTON (nee WALKER) have disappeared again, after the 1851 Census...They are all over the place, aren't they!

Thanks for all of your help - it's been so wonderful to finally be getting somewhere :)

Cheers,

Nikkii

Hi :)

You have all been SO very helpful! This information is gold - much gratitude.

Jen, it's certainly them. A stroke of luck that Betsy WALKER was also living with them.

GR2 & Malky, I'll be checking those out tonight :) Cheers.

Gadget, I suspected that they had moved out of Scotland, but I wasn't sure where. How did you think to check in London? This is just amazing - I've been lying awake at night lately, as these relatives have become a splinter in my brain. I woke up this morning from a dream where I was cursing the computer, because I wasn't getting any decent search results (I think I need to take a wee break from this!).

Can anyone advise me what the best way is to find out when, & by which Ship these JOHNSTON'S may have emigrated (I'd gather to Australia, as the youngest Alexander JOHNSTON turns up there some time before his Marriage in Victoria in 1872)?

Again, deepest thanks! This has made my day!

Cheers,

Nikkii

Aberdeenshire / Searching for Alexander JOHNSTON/Elizabeth WALKER - Aberdeen
« on: Thursday 14 August 14 16:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello All,

I'm searching for my Great Great Great Grandfather Alexander Johnston of Aberdeen (Born c. 1815 -1820, though I can find no record of his Birth). According to OPR he Married Elizabeth WALKER in Aberdeen 2 DEC 1842 (She was born in Echt, Aberdeen c. 17 SEP 1820). His Occupation on his Marriage Cert is listed as Composition/or Compositor. Their son, Alexander JOHNSTON states on his Victoria, Australia marriage Cert that he was born in Aberdeen (though I can find no record of his Birth either - it would've been c.1843), to Alexander JOHNSTON (Bookseller) & Elizabeth WALKER. Her Father is listed as Joseph WALKER (Farmer) on the Marriage Cert (which I've attached). There is a witness listed as William JOHNSTON (Bookseller) of Stonehaven, which may be his Father.

This is the last trace I can find of Alexander JOHNSTON (snr) & Elizabeth WALKER. Alexander JOHNSTON (Jnr) emigrated to Australia some time before 1872. I can't locate Alexander JOHNSTON (snr) & Elizabeth WALKER in Australian Records either. It is as if they have disappeared?

If anyone is able to help trace Alexander JOHNSTON (Snr), that would be so wonderful!

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

Nikkii

Hello All!

Thank you all so much :) I now have his Birth Cert, his Parents Marriage, & his Parents Death Certs. He is the only Arthur William JOHNSTON, with all of the correct parameters (it's just such a shame they left 'Name of Mother' blank on his Death Cert). As far as his Marriage to Mary Jane DOWLING goes (or in this case, no Marriage), I've done every search combination possible. I've even contacted the Lismore Diocese. They conducted a search of their records (even other records kept by the Priests that would've identified them in the region), but to no avail. I'm not a quitter, so I will keep searching - though I highly suspect they did not marry. My Cousin said the story goes that they were Married in the Catholic Church in Lismore. It's a mystery...

Warin, Cupoflife, Ciderdrinker (Quite partial myself!), Wivenhoe & my new relative iforani! You've all be so helpful :)

Would each of you draw the conclusion that they were not Married?? Cheeky Pair ;)

Many thanks!

Cheers,

Nikkii
