« on: Thursday 07 November 19 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
Is there a way of finding historical eviction notices for Kanturk (1890s) and a listing of the local unconsecrated burial grounds? Many thanks

Apologies again Frances.  You're so kind. You're quite right. It was 1894. Mary's parents are Patrick Mansfield and Frances (Fanny McCarthy). Patrick died in 1886 and Frances died in 1894 (same quarter as Mary gave birth).  Mary also has a sister Margaret who died aged 18 in 1874. Mary also had two brothers,  Michael and Jeremiah.  We dint have any adoption papers for John Mansfield though.  But he was living as Lynch in both the 1901 and 1911 census.
Cant see John in 1901 but is this him in 1911 in Rostellan as a Boarder with Michael & Ellen Lynch.  Their marriage Michael Lynch & Ellen Prendeville Fathers James Lynch & Denis Prendeville. Their addresses given as East Ferry Midleton 1st August 1897.
Do you have Jeremiahs details - Marriage in Ballintotis Church 14th Feb 1882 to Margaret Ryan.
Fathers are Patrick Mansfield & James Ryan. They are on 1901 & 1911 Censuses living in Broomfield West Midleton.  Havent uncovered any documented burials for the families pre 1950s. In those times not every family could afford a gravestone . Will keep digging.  Frances

Well, I've finally found my way back here. I've been doing so much research that I'd forgotten all of the websites I was using.
Frances, are you still able to put your hands on the marriage information for Michael Lynch and Ellen Prenderville (Fathers' names James Lynch and Denis Prenderville)? I can't for the life of me find their marriage details. My dad is now 92 and this family mystery is keeping him engaged.
Many  many thanks

Jane

Family History Beginners Board / Burial place for Midleton Union Workhouse, Cork
« on: Monday 26 November 18 15:08 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandmother, Mary (Maria) Mansfield, died in Midleton Union Workhouse on 27 February 1900. Would anybody happen to know where she would have been buried? I understand that, previously, people from the workhouse had been buried in the paupers' graveyard, but I understand this practice was stopped before Mary died.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Frances.  I had that information (sorry should have said). The death certificate says widow but previous records show that she was unmarried.  She gave birth to John Mansfield in the workhouse on 23 June 1864. He remained in the workhouse for some.months after her death in 1900 and was adopted by Michael Lynch and Ellen Prendergast.  We are trying to find out where the paupers from the workhouse were buried.  Ultimately wed would also like to find out the name of the father of her child (my grandfather) but that seems very unlikely.

MIDLETON CO CORK Ireland

Hello Frances,

Thank you for all your help so far and for letting me know the grave location for Midleton Workhouse, my Great Great Grandfather William Hayes is buried there.

Hi Frances, I hope you don't mind me piggybacking on this thread but I'm also looking for the location of the graves of those who were in Midleton Workhouse when they died. My paternal great grandmother, Maria (Mary) Mansfield died in the Workhouse in 1900 and we have no further knowledge of her.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Jane

Thanks Carol. I managed to send him a PM so, if Malcolm hasn't changed his email, I'm hoping to hear for him. Cheers Jane
