QUARRY ACCIDENT AT BRIGHOUSE, Yorkshire, England
At nine o'clock this morning a serious accident occurred at a quarry owned by John Robinson, situate in Rayner Road, Brighouse. The miners were at work when a large piece of stone, weighing considerably over half a ton, fell from the roof without the slightest warning upon three men working beneath.
Upon the large stone being lifted it was found that two workmen had sustained very serious injury. One, John Willie Robinson (35), married, residing at Slead Syke, Brighouse, son of the owner, Alderman John Robinson, was fearfully cut about the head and face, and also on the left side of the body. Another workman, named Alfred Farrar (36), married, residing in Smithy Carr Lane, had been caught on the back and on one hand, the wrist of which was broken. Another man, named Gooder, escaped with a grazed foot.
