Thank you Sandra for the links.  Unfortunately, the RootsChat forum link deals with a different area of Germany and the Family Search turned up no records for the names I have.  Google.de returned a number of pages dealing with the place my ancestors came from and the surnames of my great grandparents turned up quite frequently although I found nothing that would connect the individuals mentioned with my family.

I noticed in the RootsChat forum link that the poster gave details of the ancestors concerned.  For what it may be worth, here is the information I have:

My great grandparents were

August Ladwig - 22 January 1853-30 May 1941
Was stationed with the occupation troops in France after the war of 1870-71.

Wilhelmina Krüger - August 1854-24 April 1931
In 1931 had a brother in Denver, Colorado and a sister in Germany.

They emigrated from the village of Groß Silber, Kreis Saatzig, Pommern (today Suliborz, Poland) and arrived in New York in July of 1885 aboard the Westphalia which had departed from Hamburg.

They brought the following children with them:

Auguste - born July 1877
Bertha - born November 1878
Anna - born September 1880
Emilie - born 25 August 1882
Hedwig - born 25 August 1884

Perhaps someone else is working this family and will recognize this information and we can compare notes.

Thanks again for any help.

Hello,

I have my great grandparents names and birth dates and the name of the village in Pomerania from which they emigrated to the USA.  I also have the names and birth dates of their five children who emigrated with them as well as the date of arrival in the USA and the ship's passenger manifest.  I also know that my great grandfather had a brother (name unknown) in Germany and my great grandmother had a sister (name unknown) living in Germany in 1931 as well as a brother (name unknown) who was living in Denver, Colorado in the same year.  The place they came from in Pomerania has been part of Poland since 1945.

What I would like to know is how I might use this information to locate records in Germany (or Poland?) that would give me more dates of events and names of additional family members?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
