There is the following Aug 1887 Adelaide Hospital admission:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS6D-8SJ7-N?i=69 (#1227).

If this is your Annie, she would have arrived on the Daphne early 1886.

Did you rule this one out?

When you got Margaret’s will…did it mention Catherine?
Also, what does the McP stand for in James Watson’s name? Is it in full on the marriage certificate?

Thank you. It led me to the will of Jane Gameson, 1855 - but that only thickens the mystery! Why didn't she choose her brother-in-law as executor, rather than another man, of the same name, from far away? I guess they were all related somehow, if you go back to the 1700s.

Aren’t the executors from the same place as Jane was? Garnddiffeth

Thomas Waters a contractor, and Thomas Gameson a Bricklayer.

From 1858 won’t they be on the UK probate site?
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/

Pre 1858
https://www.library.wales/catalogues-searching/help-to-search/family-history-help/records/wills-and-probate-records

Plus I can see three on the PCC catalogue on Ancestry but none are of Monmouthshire

Yes.  I have had that issue too.
Each time it worked on the second attempt.

Last time I worked in an op shop a mother & daughter came in and picked out 120 closely matching glasses for a wedding. And the very next day another couple came in to do the same for a 21st.
