Edit Reply to read:

It is possible that after Moses Sr.'s death, his WIFE remarried Edward Hinckley, who helped raise her younger children.  John Hopwood's spouse may have been Hannah Humphries, m. 1770 (no location given).

PrincessMinnieHaHa,
The site I have access to today is not the best for documented resources, but may give you some information you can use.

Several Moses' were found "of" North Farnham, Essex, Virginia, circa 1702/1705.  His father, Richard Hopwood, "of" Cople, Westmoreland, VA, b. abt 1670, d. 23 Feb 1725.

Moses may have m. Elizabeth Pridham Hinkley 10 April 1725, Westmoreland, VA.  There are ten children listed for this marriage:

Mary Ann Hopwood b. 9 Oct 1728, Essex, VA
Richard Hopwood b. 8 Oct 1730, Essex, VA
Christopher Hopwood b. abt 1732, Essex, VA, d. abt 1802
Moses Hopwood b. abt 1734, Essex, VA
William Hopwood b. abt 1736, Essex, VA
Daniel Hopwood b. abt 1738, Essex, VA
Peter Hopwood b. abt 1740, Essex, VA
Joshua Hopwood b. abt 1744, Essex, VA
John Hopwood b. 1745, Essex, VA, d. 02 June 1802
James Hopwood b. abt 1746, Essex, VA

It is possible that after Moses Sr.'s death, his mother remarried Edward Hinckley, who helped raise her younger children.  John Hopwood's spouse may have been Hannah Humphries, m. 1770 (no location given).

The site I used was Family Search dot org.  You can also search State-specific gen sites like GenWeb for Virginia and PA.

Hope this was helpful.

Laura

An unverifiable source through Familysearch.org states that Glee Sigourney Perry was born 4 Feb 1927, Miami, Dade, FL.

All we need now is to figure out which state she married Mr. Berger in.  Hopefully she was only married once :)

I also have an SSI for the senior Glee:

Both Google.com and Mapquest.com say that Bainbridge Island is in the state of Washington. Still on the Pacific Coast, just further north.

Thank you for your quick response!  I was able to talk to my grandmother today to see if she could at least verify a name of one of her brothers for me - but apparently Rebecca never discussed her birth family by name, that she could recall.

Gma did tell me that one of Rebecca's older brothers was already living in the states (New York) and met her at the docks upon her arrival.  I can use this information to try and triangulate - cross reference one of the male sibblings names with one that matches up with our 1880 NY census.

Thank you so much for your help!  I'd still be pouring through tomes of passenger lists at the library if it weren't for you.

Please let me know if there is anything I can pull for you from this side of the pond  :)

United States of America / Rebecca Smith, b. 1863, Wolverhampton
« on: Sunday 15 January 06 12:57 GMT (UK)  »
I am a US resident researching a great grandmother who emigrated (as an endentured servant) to New York prior to 1880.

In trade for UK research on my great grandmother's family, I will volunteer my resources here in the U.S.  I have access to vast US genealogy resources and libraries - mainly US censuses, and some experience with US and Canadian birth and death records.

Details on great grandmother:

Rebecca Smith
b. 1 March 1863, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England
m. Charles Van Olinda (date and location unknown)
d. 9 March 194, Los Angeles, Calfornia, USA

Volume and record number for birth record:
SMITH    Rebecca        Wolverhampton    6b    464

Mother's maiden name:
Bloxwich

My primary interest is to find the first and last names of her birth parents, and possible sibblings.  I also know, from conversations with my grandmother, that Rebecca had at least one brother.  Nothing further known.

Thank you in advance,
Laura
