Thank you Millmoor
I know about the bankruptcy - my search is trying to find out if anyone knows exactly when and where Franz Hauptman died.  He just seems to have disappeared -maybe went back again to Bohemia but I have a friend in Germany who tried checking with no results. Maybe it will have to remain one of those unsolved mysteries.
Thanks again for your post

I am also researching my mother's family. -   My  great/great/gr/father was Farring Clamp b/ 1797 in Suffolk.  His son (my great g/father) was Richard Edmund Clamp, and his son (my g/father) was Richard Ferren/Ferring Clamp. Richard F  and family emigrated to Canada in 1910.  one of his daughters, Ruth Clamp was my mother born 1898 in Liverpool.

Who asked me about Bethia Hauptman ?  She was an adopted child - she died in1885 at age 19 from peritonitis - signed by Elizabeth Hauptman - foster mother, so guess she wasn't adopted

Also some one mentioned about some of the children being adopted - actually they were the ones born in Bohemia - my g/mother one of them and I have the birth certificates from Bohemia

So far I haven't figured out to reply to each individual person who has answered me - sorry about that

Thank you Millmoor
I have most of that information - Franz and his brother Ignaz set up the business or maybe Ignaz set it up and Franz joined him. Franz was on the 1861 census of Edinburgh, not on the 1871 as he had gone back to Wolfersdorf, Bohemia.  My g/mother was born there as well as two other children, then they came back to Edinburgh and are on the 1881 census. Alien Arrivals shows Ignaz arriving in Hull, England 15 Aug 1846 from Hamburg, Germany - Franz shown as arriving at London, 5 Nov,1847 from Germany. On 1891 marriage of one of his daughters he is shown as glass works manager, on another daughter's marriage in 1893 he is shown as glass merchant - deceased. If these dates are corrrect then we could assume he died between 1891 and 1893
Thanks again for welcoming me:)

Looking for information about Franz Hauptman b. 1818 in Bohemia.  emigrated to Scotland , set up a glass factory with his brother Ignaz Hauptman in Edinburgh. Married Elizabeth Stevens in 1884 in Edinburgh. Had numerous children, one being Elizabeth Hauptman b.1866 in Bohemia. Elizabeth married Lewis McBeth Morrison in 1890 in Alloa, Clackmannan. Their son, John Morrison b.1890 was my father. I have never been able to find the death of Franz Hauptman , not in Scotland, England or Bohemia - have an idea he may have died around 1893, but not certain.
I was wondering if anyone on this site would have any knowledge that could help me.
Thank you.
Bev
