Her descendant is starting to compile a tree. The dates have only just gone up. We share some DNA so I'm trying to help. The (amended) surname Ramberansingh is denoted as still living. Thank you for looking.

I wasn't aware of that and have only the details mentioned.
I'll pass the message on.

Not sure of the spelling of the 2nd name. Post-1950.
Trying to help someone locate these people.
Swaby (female) ? Raberansingh (spelling?) (male)
Locations Portland, Trelawny and San Fernando.

Thank you

The descendant I correspond with says his uncle told him about it.

Thank you for looking, Lisa, the 1841 information was known, along with the strange name (Albin?)
It's the parents' stay in Canada that is a mystery. My subs rarely includes anything from there.

Thank you for looking.
Martha was 58 when she died at the Leeds workhouse, Dec 1862, a widow, I think.
I don't know of any children born in Canada.
The name does vary: Hol(d)brook/Auldbrook etc.

Thank you for the reply.

I think the mother (Martha) died in Leeds workhouse; don't know what became of the children (with grandparents?). The parents' residence in Canada was passed on by a relative of J. Holbrook. There's also a question mark over Knaresborough birthplace> Manchester marriage> Leeds workhouse, but that's further down the line....

Canada / Emigrants from Yorkshire

John & Martha (née Andrews) Holbrook emigrated to Canada in about 1837 from Scriven in Yorkshire, England.
John Holbrook: born 1800, 'mechanik'
Martha née Andrew(s) born 1808 in Knaresborough, Yorkshire.
Marriage: Manchester, 1824

Can anyone please help trace their progress in Canada?
Thank you.
