Other Countries / Captain Walter Aloysius Doyle-Kelly I.A.R.O.
« on: Sunday 18 July 21 17:50 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information on Captain Walter Aloysius Doyle-Kelly I.A.R.O. who served in 6th Jats in France in 1915 and was wounded in Mesopotamia January 7, 1916. I believe he was born and educated in India and would like to find out where. He could have attended University in the U.K. and was possibly in Ireland in 1921-1929.

Many thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I am trying to find more information on Captain Walter Doyle-Kelly (father of Walter in your response) and his time in Ireland.
After being wounded January 7, 1916 en route to the Siege of Kut, he recuperated in Egypt and sailed on a hospital ship to the UK in June 1916. I have no info. on him in Ireland prior to the attack on the Mayfair Hotel in June 1921. His wife was from Co. Limerick but his time in Ireland is a mystery other than 2 children born there in 1916 and 1924.

Thank you, Gaffy.
The Walter A. Doyle-Kelly is the same person. He was born in 1885, I believe in India but not sure where, possibly in Poona. His father William Mathew Kelly worked for the Survey of India, died in 1922 and is buried in Mussoorie.
Walter A. Doyle-Kelly married Margaret in 1915 in Marseilles while serving in an Indian Army regiment in WW1. He was wounded in Mesopotamia in 1916.
I have no information on him prior to 1914 or his activity in Ireland other than the Mayfair Hotel and son born in 1924.
My best,
