Josiah Smith, was he more often Isaiah?

Only death I found in Lincoln
Sep 1915 7a 506
Smith, Isaiah
age 56

Buried at Lincoln Cemetery(?), 18 Aug 1915
of (19) Latham Place (St Nicholas)

Two records of that on FreeReg
https://www.freereg.org.uk/

They also have the baptism of Herbert at St Nicholas and St John, 18 May 1895
Parents Isaiah + Sarah Smith
father a Hawker
Born 9 May 1895

As per birth registration that Rosie found

SMITH, HERBERT       mmn WILSON
1895  June Quarter in LINCOLN  Volume 07A  Page 544

A quote from me!

If the info on Find a Grave is correct(?), Herbert was previously married to Hilda Earl (which was in 1919, as plain Herbert)
That couple seem to be together in Lincoln on the 1939 Register.
Free index has Herbert Smith born 1894, at 103 Goldsmith Walk.

Question for cottard
What is the exact date of birth given for Herbert, day/month?
John

herbert was born 9 may 1895 from doing abit for digging around his dad is like you said john know as Josiah but more    Isaiah  ,which i believe are the same name but different spellings.

Re Ethel Maxted.  The marriage was 1949 by which time she was 28 & he was 55 which is a 27yr age difference hence my reply above.

At the moment - I am not entirely convinced you have the right marriage which is why I asked if you had the 1949 marriage cert which should confirm their respective ages.

i dont have a marriage cert at all its what has been told to me over the years they both died before i was born.on his gravestone says died 27 june 1964 age 67.
