There is information on Kelk Place near Kilmarnock on Ayrshire History: Ayrshire Miners Rows 1913.
It gives you the information on all Miners Rows and the state of them following a survey.

Sparrett/Sue I'd love to have copies of the photos of the graves but how do I get them from you?  Is it through private message?
Thanks
Hollyd

Wow - thanks all for all this information, I never expected to get so much so quickly after trying to find info on him, off and on, for so long.  It was just by sheer chance I found the date of his death as have never actually got his actual birth notice, just worked out his age from the 1841 census - no problem with the rest of the family though so don't know why he wasn't registered.  You've all given me a lot to take in and many thanks once again you have all been so helpful.

I'm looking for help in finding when my 3xgreat-uncle arrived in Australia, on what ship and if he married and had any children.  He was born at Coldcoathill Farm, Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1826 and died in Castle Maine aged 61 on 10th April 1887 and was buried on 12th April 1887.  His occupation was a Builder and Contractor. He's been very elusive and I only know he had children and presumably married from his sister, Elizabeth's will but she didn't name any of them.  Can anyone help please.

Hi Shaun,

Just an update - e-mailed the British Library and there are no records on line for Ceylon/Sri Lanka but they gave me the following address:-

Registrar General's Office, New Secretariat, Maligawatta, Colombo 10, Sri Lanka

Have just been on holiday and passed what info I'd found (with all the help) to my Mum's friend and she was delighted and asked to pass on her thanks.

No luck with the ceylondatabase - not my Morrison!!!

Hi,

I wrote to the British Library hoping they'd have the Ceylon/Sri Lanka BMDs and I got a nice reply telling me they are all kept at the following address in Sri Lanka and not on-line:-

Registrar General's Office, New Secretariat, Maligawatta, Colombo 10, Sri Lanka

Hope this is of help.
