Hi Debbie,
I've been through every combination under the sun
Even omitting last name and trawling through the Elizas born 1862 +/-2 etc.
I actually only just found Margaret today on the 1881. Decided to try and find who some of her sisters married, and took pot luck at one of them. Checked the 1871 after the marriage, and saw there was a daughter Grace E, which made it more probable it was her sister. Decided to check the 1881, and low and behold with that family was a Margaret R???S c1839, but stated born Salford. it had to be her!
I've been stuck on this family years, and keep going back to it every now and then.
My main issue is that William Cliff was my GtGt Grandfather. The only William Cliff born Salford 1858, was this one. The birth cert doesn't name a father, and he was born Morris St, nextdoor to where margaret was living with her parents on the 1851. He married in 1880, and states his father as being called Joseph, a carter, which I believe to be fictional, as I have never been able to find a death for a Joseph Cliff c1858, and also Joseph wasn't named on birth cert.
I'm trying to establish whether this William Cliff on the 1871 working as a servant is him, or if I'll hopefully find him with Margaret, Frederick and Eliza.
Cheers, Sue
