Fife / MCGIVERNs in Fife 1840's

I am curious to receive/supply information regarding any MCGIVERNs in Kirkcaldy area around the 1840's. My g-g-grandfather (Augustine Hugh MCGIVERN) having been born there in 1872. His father (same name, sometimes just known as HUGH MCGIVERN) was born in France in 1844, his brother JOHN MCGIVERN (also France 1848) both somehow go to Kirkcaldy and work in the Flax-dressing industry. Later they move to Port Glasgow (Refrewshire) in 1879 and the family stays there until the 1970's.
Augustine and John's father was a HUGH MCGIVERN (1806-1878) died Greenock and a JANE GREER. HUGH MCGIVERN also married and ANN GRAY. But I am unsure of the dates.
Does anyone know of the MCGIVERNs in this area?
Could they supply information regarding birth records in France?
