The Common Room / Re: Old mantel clock
« on: Wednesday 15 June 22 22:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi Ruskie,

I don't have much family history on this clock, but my mom said it was my grandparent's clock with not any mention of the clock being handed down. I suspect it may have been given to my grandparents as a gift for their wedding in 1925 or 26. I remember them being very protective of the clock when I visited them as a boy - they both passed when I was about 10 yrs old.

Hi Peggy,

One of the branches of the Toronto Public Library, North York branch I believe, has a good genealogy department and resources I hear. You can contact them. I would contact the Ontario Archive located York University as well. The time period, pre-Confederation, is a difficult period to research, but not impossible :-)

Hi Violet,

My Southwell clan from Lockerley Hamps go back to the 1600s. I do have several William Southwells. The one William born in Locekerley 1779 married a Mary Harding there in 1803. I am not quite clear as to what info you are attempting to get. Let me know.

Hi all,

Back again, just to let you know, I have Charles Coy as having 8 siblings.  the two oldest ones  born before Katherina married Matthaus. I wonder if she was married previously? The last child was born just prior to Matthaus' death.
