Hi Christine and everyone, nice Michael has joined in to help.
I contacted the Family History centre at North Shields Library asking if
they could help me regarding the theory of Preston Hospital/tynemouth crematorium.
Meanwhile I hope to hear back from the step son or his grand daughter, if she would
just reply on the facebook contact!!
Hoping for a breakthrough!
Allan Keith (Dixon).

Thank you Christine.  I have tried without success to remove the e mail so apologies if it was inappropriate and perhaps a moderator will remove it for me or tell me how you do that.  The site isn't the easiest to find way round.
I have now traced an address for Thomas william Dixon's step son who will have attended the funeral and will at least remember where it was, I can then trace it with a paper trail and try for the third time with the registry office.  I have noted your advice and will ponder it and act upon it.
Yes I've tried all of the different connotations for names, there are only a few possible certificates and the registrar won't sell me them as they are the wrong people.  Seems like he vanished without burial cremation or death certificate !!  I will have to get these details from the stepson and then go on a paper trail to get the proof I need.  There has been a mistake somewhere because 2 people confirm the date of his death, there is no one by any name like his NATIONALLY even I've seen findmypast.  Very challenging.  Anyway I will try and come back on here and let you know or will take your further advice if indeed there is anything to be done.  Many thanks for your interest.  Allan Keith Dixon Tynemouth

Dear Christine
I would like to ask you for a little help, thank you for your earlier reply.  My e mail is (*) and I'm in Tynemouth.
My grandfather Thomas william Dixon died in Bedlington.  He was born in 1893, married Elizabeth Long in 1918 and their first child was my father Andrew Dixon, now deceased in 2005.  I'm 59 and a retired teacher.  I never knew my grandfather as I was perhaps a toddler when he was born.  Due to a family rift as my grandfather married a second time due to premature death of his first wife, that marriage was in 1944 in Bedlington to Mary Jane Maughan who became Mary Jane Dixon.  They lived at 22 Steadland
Square in Bedlington in the 1950's.  She died in 1977 I have her death certificate where his name appears as deceased coal miner.
I have his birth cert, his 2 marriage certs, but cannot get a death certificate for him.
Morpeth Registrars INSIST they do not have it nor Newcastle.  My cousin lived near to my grandfather and says he died in around 1954 when my cousin was 8 years old.  I have been to Woodhorn and searched Bedliington Burials book, Cowpen Crematorium state they did not cremate him, I have wandered round West Ridge Church yard bedlington where First wife was buried, for hours.
No luck.  Choppington Parish tell me he is not buried there.  So no death cert and no proof of burial or cremation so where do I go from here?  At wits end!!  He was a Bedlington Man, died in Bedlington, possibly at Thomas Taylor homes (but registrar say they have checked there in that book as well).  It's as if they are determined to outdo me!!  Nothing on ancestry search fits his Date of Birth
i.e. the wrong age has been given when his death was registered, or when computerised, perhaps by step son.  Stepson born in 1935 does not appear to have died but cannot be traced.  Mosley Maxfield Maughan.
How would you handle this please, can you help?
Thank you Allan Keith Dixon

Northumberland / The LONG family of Netherton Colliery
« on: Thursday 22 March 12 13:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hello there,
I am trying to find more information (a photograph would be wonderful) of Andrew LONG, who lived from 1870, and married Elizabeth MARSHALL in 1894 (both from Cowpen) and died at Netherton around 1936, aged about 66.  He was a Deputy OVERMAN at the pit.  My grandmother was his daughter, she was Elizabeth Long (same name as her mother upon marriage).  Apart from my grandmother Elizabeth Long, there were other siblings including John LONG who lived at 14 Cowgate Street, Cambois, near Blyth, for about 30 years ending when Cambois Colliery Closed in 1968.
I have used ancestry.co for basic research but hope for more intimate details such as a photograph.  I know his family originated from Norfolk, Hindringham, and I know his father was Samuel Long (who married Elizabeth Hardy).
I hope I may get a copy of a photograph of him.  Archives at Woodhorn enquiry said they had no colliery info on Netherton, but it was a 3 rd enquiry and the guy was very rushed so I could try there again in a different approach.
Anyone busy with the Longs, perhaps with a photo box with a picture of him and his wife in?
I do have 2 super photos of some of the Marshall girls.
Kind regards
Keith Dixon (Retired Teacher) of Tynemouth

I am researching DIXON's also (sorry I know your posting was not on that subject but I'm new and don't know how to approach your DIXON interest otherwise)
My name is Allan Keith Dixon, my father was Andrew Dixon, Grandfather thomas William Dixon (born 1893).  He died in late 1950's or 60's but no death cert at registry office currently searching church yards in Bedlington for his grave.  Before then his father was Joseph Dixon born 1870 and before then William Dixon 1837/8 of Seghill.
Any links?
regards
