Hi Christine and everyone, nice Michael has joined in to help.
I contacted the Family History centre at North Shields Library asking if
they could help me regarding the theory of Preston Hospital/tynemouth crematorium.
Meanwhile I hope to hear back from the step son or his grand daughter, if she would
just reply on the facebook contact!!
Hoping for a breakthrough!
Allan Keith (Dixon).

 Keith,

I know you have bought more than one " wrong" death cert.

This bit is important to the folk on this board, who are trying to help you.

Look at the "hits" that Radcliff listed on her posting of today.
Have you bought and "rejected" any of those registrations from
Northumberland Central RD ( at Morpeth) ?

And what where the bits of info they contained that led you to
determine that they were not your grandad

I wonder how much help a library can give you- other than invite you
in to browse their records yourself ! Although many researchers have praise for
North Shields library staff's helpfulness.

If a date or month of death was known, I am confident that I could find his death
notice ( which would give his burial place) in the local newspapers ( e.g. Evening
Chronicle, Blyth News [which covered Bedlington] and the weekly Morpeth Herald)

Just snippet on info contained on a Death Certificate....

From 1837 to sometime before 1953, death certs recorded " Age" at time of death  ( column 4)

Sometime between 1953 and 1987, the certs changed to record " Date and Place of Death"
( column 5)

For some good help i use a superb friendly site
www.bedlington.co.uk If you go to the forum, and believe me they are a lovely bunch of forum users, they may be able to help you.
Also look in the photo galleries and lots of Netherton on there.
Good luck, i use it regular.
Enjoy.
