Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: 1901 census Brighton/Hove/Portslade area

Alice Beecham who appears on the probate record may be Alice K Beecham who married William Beecham in Brighton in 1916. They had several children prior to that date and possibly one after. Could it be that Stanley lived in Gladstone Terrace for a while in the house of his father’s wife?

Also, the date of death given for Ellen Parsons of 1939 (on the other board and on Ancestry under Charles Parsons) doesn’t quite match up with records. There’s an Ellen Parsons who died in 1938 in Brighton, but the record says she was 74, which would make her DOB about 1864. That’s 10 years older than William. Raises question marks…

Well aware of that. Saw no benefit in withholding new info.  :)

England / Re: Where was James Carr Johnson before 1881?
« on: Wednesday 07 February 24 22:25 GMT (UK)  »
I realise this is a really old discussion, but those interested might like to know that there was an American connection. I was told this by my paternal grandmother, who was the first child of James Carr Johnson’s second marriage. Unfortunately, I can’t with certainty say that James was from the USA, but it could explain why there’s no trace of him or his father before 1881. There is at least one Durham in the USA.

Cheers,
Paul.
