Hi Roger and thanks for your message. Welcome to Rootschat!
I have heard about the Spanish Barrables arriving in Cornwall.
My problem is that I don't know where my grandmother was born and I don't know the names of her parents either so I can't apply for a birth certificate until I have some idea of where she was born (but from the marriage certificate it seems she was born about 1881). My mother had told me (many moons ago) that my grandmother came from Wales but never said where in Wales. I was too young at the time to think about genealogy etc., so didn't pursue it. However, my mother gave me a photo of Annie Maria BARRABLE and a photo of Annie's mother and Annie's mother's photo was taken in Penzance, Cornwall but no names on the back. Mum also mentioned a "Miss Edwards" and I am now assuming that she was talking about the mother of Annie. I can't obtain a death certificate either for Annie Maria BARRABLE because I'm not sure, where in South Africa, she died. I do, however, have a copy of Annie Maria's marriage certificate. So I'm stumped and don't know how to move forward to find the rest of the BARRABLE clan.
I have had a photo sleuth take a look at both photos and he told me that he doubts the nameless one is my grandmother's mother. He thinks it could be her grandmother.
I would love to be able to share anything with you but at the moment I've got nothing but dear old grandma and a nameless gr-grandmother.
Thanks for any help or suggestions Roger and do keep in touch.
Regards,
Corny
