Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: Trying to find info on Elizabeth ann Jessop
« on: Thursday 03 October 19 16:51 BST (UK)  »
Hello - I have also been trying to find Elizabeth Anne Jessop. My great grandmother was Lena Hayward b.1855 who was the daughter of Charles Hayward and Elizabeth Jessop. Lena had a twin brother called Robert and was sister to Rachel Anne Hayward who apparently married her uncle - George Jessop.
I have also come up against problems in identifying Elizabeth Comport and whether or not she was Elizabeth Deaves! The dates don't seem to add up and as someone else mentioned, it appears that she may have married 3 times but again that doesn't seem possible.
I would be very grateful if you could let me know if you have found anything else since you posted on Rootsweb some years ago.
Many thanks Cilla Alexander

Warwickshire / Re: James Crump attorney at law Coventry

Hi Judy,
I think we have been in touch before! It is certainly the same family. I am descended from James Crump and his first wife Elizabeth Smith. Their son, Rev. Henry John Crump was my gr.gr.grandfather.
Elizabeth died in 1812 and James married a widow, Sarah Hanby. They had a daughter Mary Anne who as you say, married William Smith. I have been in touch with some of their descendents - through their son Herbert Henry, who was their youngest son I believe.
My search is for where James Crump (attorney in Coventry) and HIS brother John Crump (also an attorney in Coventry) actually came from! James was born in 1769/70 - I have his death certificate in 1839 which states he was 70 yrs old - this could be approximate, of course. His brother, John who married an Ann White, died in the early 1800's. I have a copy of his will. Ann died shortly after, leaving everything to her 'brother by law'(sic) James Crump, attorney in Coventry. Therefore, it seems very probable that James and John were brothers working in the same profession in Coventry, but where were they born?
IGI has records of 2 James and John Crumps who were born to the same parents - if I recall correctly one set were in Bromsgrove and another in Worcestershire. But I have no idea how to set about finding out which is which! I think at some point I will have to go to Coventry to see if I can discover anything more.  It just seems unlikely that in view of their professions that I should be unable to find out more about their Crump roots! Was their father also a lawyer, for instance?
Anyway, good to hear from you - happy hunting! I think our relatives by marriage were both at Mill Hill School at some point - Richard Law Crump? and his brother? Henry John Crump was the chaplain there in the 1830's so his children were at school there, including my gr. grandfather Arthur although he was very young and may have only just lived there while his older brothers were at the school. I have a copy of the school lists at that time.
Kind regards
Cilla Alexander

« on: Wednesday 16 August 06 20:40 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any record of these two people. Alice's aunt was the Victorian writer Minna Mabel Collins. Alice married a William Pickering Hodgson and when Mabel died in Cheltenham in 1927, she left her effects to her niece, who lived nearby... but where? and where did they go? and how old were they?...so many questions.. so few answers... My interest is that Mabel was the half sister of my great grandfather. Can anyone help?

Warwickshire / James Crump attorney at law Coventry

James Crump was my great x3 grandfather. He lived in Swan Street Coventry around 1790 to 1820. I am trying to find his parents. He may have been born about 1770. he married Elizabeth Smith and had several children - Sarah, Elizabeth, Charles, James and Henry John. I am trying to establish a link between him and a John Crump who may have been an Attorney too, or perhaps in the silk trade. There may have been connections with the Holland family. Can anyone help? Thanks
